Good evening everyone. I am looking to trike my 2012 Suzuki Burgman 400 with a custom built trike kit that is an outrigger style. The guy doing the conversion is trying to steer me away from 13 inch rims and into 12 inch rims. He said it would save me a bit on weight and fuel. Can anyone think of a practical reason why the 12 inch rims would be better than a 13 inch rim on a Burgman 400? Thanks Christopher

He's probably right on weight savings, but I suspect that it would be minimal. Other than fender clearance, I can see no other logical reason that 12" would be better. I'd go with the 13" if that's what I preferred.

When you get it completed, please post a picture or two.

The 13 in will rotate less per mile then the 12. the rotation speed will be less at the same over the ground speed. Therefor the 13 will wear slightly less over the same distance. Also there will be a cosmetic difference, One might look better then the other. And availability of one size over the other of both rims and tires.
