Almost bought the farm saturday. On the way to our annual picnic at Reunion ranch in Georgetown I got forced over to change lanes on a 4 lane hwy that suddenly became 2 lane road. I looked over and there is this BIG ford 250 pulling a horse trailer with 2 hourses inside. If a car had been coming it would have been a head on for me. I'm pissed riding behind a horse trailer waiting for one or both to also get pissed at me. I was riding in a large group of HOG members in the rear with a newbie and rear road captain. Unknown to me the road captain ahead of me called 911 because the truck had been tail gateing the rear road captain. and almost hit him before what happened to me. When it was clear to pass I opened it up and passed the truck doing 85MPH . I did not give him the hawaiian good luck sign. The rear bikes got in front the the truck and the truck pulled over and stopped. The capt went over and asked him what kind of games he was playing at? When we finally get to the picnic grounds Im the last one there. The 3 riders behind me are missing. The LEOs show up and find the truck trailer and 3 bikes pulled over. The truck driver pulled a gun on the rear road captain. He told the LEO that we treatened him and his daughter who was in the truck with him. The LEO would not give the driver a ticket because it was all hear say and he did not see any of what happened. The driver did lose his gun. I guess I was the big law breaker for speeding to get pass the truck. I'll bet the cop knew the rancher IMOP. curley

Not sure what ticket he would have gotten. No LEO can give a ticket for following too close unless he sees it. I would have thought he could have been taken in on assault with a deadly weapon, especially if the bikers had no weapons. Just to have the weapon taken away and the driver set free just isn't right!

You have to ride or drive with total concentration on the road around you and the size of the rigs. Some of these jackals get on any thing bigger than a tricycle and their ego goes through the roof! They show no respect for anyone else, including law enforcement. BTDT. Just keep on the lookout and always use the buddy system, as much as possible. Peace and ride safe.

Latest update the local district attorney is considering taking up charges of reckless endangerment and threatening bodily harm with a motor vehicle against the truck driver with the gun problem. This was done on his own when someone at the local sheriffs office told him about the incident. I would have been satisfied if the guy was just given a ticket in the first place for threating the rear road captain. It seems that he wanted to go faster than 60MPH and all of the bikers were in his way and he lost control, his words. maybe MC operators are gonna get a little consideration in this case anyway lets hope. curley & thanks for the feed back and support all.

Jay,
John and I are just glad that you're okay! The LEOs will take care of the truck driver; just pleased that nobody on that ride got run down or shot!

Sure wish you'd go to the Rally in the Valley with us - it's gonna be a long trip, but the rally is the very best!!!

Thanks for the update, curley! Sounds like your friends may just get a good outcome! Fingers crossed ;)

Road Rage is always a bad deal. It's never a good idea to confront someone. Call 911 and wait for the police or at least know that they will be looking for the reckless drive, but the police must see the infraction, hear say does not get it. Best we can do with hear say is chew someone out.

I agree 100% never get in a duel with a 4 wheel car or truck. they tell us that before every ride. But my part in what happened is not the major thing they are pushing for. The truck pulled over inviting the 3 guys in back of me to talk I guess. When 1 of them walked over to see whats the problem. The driver pulls the gun even before the road captain opened his mouth. Then the LEOs arrive. 911 was called as soon as this guy started following the long line of MCs. Back then it was a 4 lane road. I can imagine it all going a different way if any small thing was changed. curley
