Long Ride Shield height

Group,

Got a few questions. I know it's subjective to each rider, but what are your thoughts on "should the height be higher or lower then normal" based on wind or do you order the size recommended via lip/nose measurement at LRS?

Right now I have a 10.5 stock from Harley. I was looking at getting a 11" because of the size comparison vs Harley ( per discussion with James). I have heard some that say because of recurve get 1 or 2 inches below standard size shield. But, that was not mentioned from LRS....

These are all on the LRS. Since they are having a great sale, I might get two!

any and all help/suggestions would be appreciated.

I have been buying shields from Long Ride Shields for quite awhile. I started out with 11 in. and now I and getting 8 in.shields. With the 1.25 lifts on the Triglide I find I can see over the windshield. I really like this. With the 10, it was right in line of sight. From the center bolt hole on the fairing the top of the shield measures 8.5. Just right for me. No wind problems.

11" is TALLER than stock height shield. It is in my line of sight. I have lift kit on back of TG as well. Wish I had ordered a 10". I'm 5'11".

Might correct that with this sale going on.

Don't have the lift kit

I'm wondering since I don't have the lift kit I would need the 10 inch or eleven inch over the lower?

Hell i I don't know.

Im looking at probably the flat top over the ultra.

As can be noted in the above replies everybody is different. Your windshield height has to do with your height, the seat you ride and how you ride. Ride with a fellow that sits up so straight it makes my back hurt just to ride behind him.

My opinion you should see 1 1/2" to 2" above your windshield. Get on your bike and sit how you would normally ride.....then wiggle around a little to get comfortable in the seat and put your hands on the handlebar grips. Have a friend (hope you have one) to hold a framing lever placing the butt end of the lever against your forehead. Now looking straight ahead on the bottom of the level, level it up and that's where your eye sight is. Drop down 2" from that point and that's how tall your windshield should be.

A real easy way is to tape a piece of poster board to your windshield taller than you expect it to be and mark your points on the poster board.

Others have their own ideas but have used this method for years.

Got the 10" flat top medium tint

Pulled the trigger and got the 10" Flat Top. I figured for the price you could not beat it. Only thing is they don't tell you about the 26.00 in shipping or the "long" wait time for delivery.

Hopefully it will come sooner, rather then later.

Order fast

When they start those wild discount sales you gotta get your order in see in PA it doesn't really matter this time of year. Time will pass by quickly you may even have a santa delivery ThumbUp Humm! fearless

I always liked the windshield to block all things like bugs, rocks and the wind. So my preference was a taller LRS curved and worked well for me and the passenger.
