Lighted Roadsmith Mudflaps Question

I recently ordered the Lighted Roadsmith Mudflaps and was wondering for those who had them installed, how were they wired in. From what I can tell, the running lights have the same brightness as the brake lights. So it seems they could be wired up a couple different ways.

1) Not lighted until you hit the brakes, then on.
2) Lighted running and when you hit the brakes (an always on setup)

Ideally, one would think they would have a dimmer light until the brakes are used and then they would become brighter. It seems though these are not designed this way, unless I'm doing something wrong. There are 2 wire hook up for the running and the brakes but are the same brightness.

Thanks for any info or help on what I am doing wrong.

Mine came from the factory installed and light only when I hit the brake. They look really nice on the trike at night when they light up.

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like those are the 2 choices. I have mine hooked up to be on all the time but I just felt it odd that they don't become brighter when hitting the brakes. Actually I have them hooked up to the running and the brakes using all 3 wires. I just wish the running was dimmer.
