Lifting trike to service it

Today I serviced the trike so it's ready for taking south this winter. I can't ride this fall because I'm getting a hip replaced on Sep 18th and have been on crutches for two months. I will be loading it into the toy hauler this weekend. Our plan this winter is to head to Texas in January for 6 - 8 weeks.

I just thought I'd share how I get the trike high enough to get under and service / inspect it.

Good luck on your hip surgery. I had to get both done before I could even consider lifting a leg over a bike, Trike or even a bicycle. But finally getting them done was the best decision I ever made. Now I CAN ride :D

That is a cool way to get the trike up off the ground, and I bet the loading ramps make the transition up onto the metal ramps a lot smoother. I have a set (2) of Rhino wheel ramps and have used them to lift the rear of the Trike. I may have to get another set and use one for the front as well. Then maybe sell the 4th ramp so some other Triker can have a set of 3.

This is how I lift my trike. I'm so spoiled!!!!!:D:D:D

spoiled is not the word. I would love to have a lift like that but the roof is not high enough. Sure does make some stuff real easy.

Showoff....is more like it. Butt if I had a lift like that I wood show it off too. Below is what I would like if I really had the need.and just a little more space.

While I don't have the floor lift.
I do have the K&L jacks. They do make life a lot easier. But I still need a scissor jack under the front to lift it enough to get the K&L under there.

That is sweeeeeeeeet I would really like one of those but I'll bet it costs more than my two post 10,000# lift.

The big lift is nice to work on the bottom and such but it is difficult to work on the sides of the trike.

Ya Win some ya Loose some

Last week in anticipation of installing a lift kit, perhaps a rear trunk guard and maybe some slip-ons on down the road I went to Harbor Freight and got a 2-Ton floor jack and a set of jack stands.

When I got home I chalked the front tire and put a Velcro strip around the front brake lever and tried the floor jack making sure to center the jack under the clutch cover and side to side. But when it started to lift the rear of the trike up it was very sketchy and wobbly, and I was leery to take a chance getting it up to jack stand height with something as expensive as this new TG.

So today I went back to HF and exchanged the regular floor jack with a motorcycle floor jack, figuring I should be able to lift the whole trike up level all at once. So far......NOT! Try as I might I could not find the sweet spot to get both ends off the ground, but it sure lifts the front wheel great. So I may have to re-think my jack choice, and go back to HF....again  But at least I found a real nifty and out of the way place to store this motorcycle jack.

Everyone please be aware that it is very dangerous to use lightweight concrete block to support a vehicle. It crushes and crumbles very easily.

To get the rear up you have to strap the front end down, I know the owners manual used to have a section on how to jack the Triglide up.

The problem is I do not have anywhere to strap the front end down too. I have read the owners manual along with the shop manual for Trikes, and it is still rather vague about how to safely get one of these behemoths up off the ground.

I have a pair of Rhino ramps and a pair of jack stands and these ramps will lift the Trike enough for me to lay/get under it. Is this (see photo) where I should place the jack stands if I needed to then remove the rear wheels.

NOW, that is a system I'd like to have but like Condor, price ??? Couldn't find it anywhere. Must be like a restaurant I went to one night. No prices. Ask the fellow standing there with the linen towel (should have been my first clue) draped over his arm "if you have to ask the prices you can't afford it".

Got the same one..... K&L Air Lift 1500# for my trike..... I just leave it on the lift all the time.....
