I recently had my "97 Goldwing converted with a Roadsmith kit. I've noticed every time I wash it the trunk leaks water and everything gets wet. The dealer says it's probably a case of adjusting the latch or possibly a gasket problem. I haven't had time to bring it in yet. Has anyone else had this problem?

I have 1800 RS. Be careful to not hit "crack" between lid and body with a high pressure stream. The gasket is designed to stop rain. That said, adjusting the latch may be the answer. I've had mine for two years and driven through some serious rain and road splash and never had a drop enter the trunk.

I had the same problem with my TG when I got it. Actually there was a gasket problem with all of the first TG's sold. It took HD almost a year to resolve the problem. I used to have to pack my luggage in big plastic bags.

I have not had a problem, but I was told that if it started leaking to adjust the lock.Seems over time the gasket tends to srink.RIDE SAFE

Same experience here. The key (not to be punny) is the lock adjustment to properly seat the gasket around the trunk opening.

A caveat: If you store a helmet in the trunk make sure it is well protected as it can bounce around and get seriously chipped by the sharp edges on the internal lock structure. RS could put some kind of simple plastic guard around that to prevent such damage.
