Late nighters---unite!!!

Haven't seen Bill in awhile. Hope he pops up soon.

I'm Baaaaack!

Went to a big Bluegrass event called Cabin Fever. It fills the entire Holiday Inn Conference Center with overflow rooms in 4 other hotels near by. Playing music int the lobby, halls, rooms and even in the elevator, in addition to 30 bands on stage over three days! I picked until 3 in the morning every day. Got home and slept until dinner time.

Scott, glad to hear didn't feel bad enough to waste any "sick" leave.

Bet there wasn't an ukulele in the place. :cxtv:

Um....I'm a little embarrassed. Make that a lot.

I did it again. All I can say, is at least it's guns and not trikes. :D Yes, I traded again. Still a 45, and a Glock, just went with another model--a 30S. Thank goodness the gun shop guy was understanding. I paid $50 boot, but it coulda been a lot worse. Traded the full size 21 in for it. This is soooo much lighter and more concealable. Not a pocket gun, but darn near it. I'm finished now because I'm out of money. :qpnmt:

Oh...I've still got the 42.

Yes, and it was fairly easy. I had more than half a tank in it when I did, and that was the only thing that made it harder. But, I got it on and damaged nothing...I call that a win!

I meant to PM you and forgot.

Seriously Scott, you need help. The next time you want to trade just mail me the gun and I'll keep it for you for awhile till you feel better, especially if it is the 42.

If I mail it, I'll be in my own pokie. You'll have to come get it

I is here tonight.

No new gun acquisitions to report.

Took both guns to my brother-in-law's house (no, I didn't shoot him). We put about 50 rounds through the G30S and about 40 rounds through the G42. I'm much more accurate with the 30 (shocker) than with the 42. But if I can work a little on my control and breathing, I'll get much better with both.

Towards the end, when I was getting a little better, the 30 was putting rounds consistently to the left of where I was aiming. I was getting good groups, just to the left. That's something that can be easily fixed if I can find somebody with a sight pusher.

Forgot to say--I bought an extra mag for the 42. Used it first when shooting at the in-laws. Jammed up with every shot. Got to the point on the third shot, I just about wasn't able to un-jam it. Immediately tried the other mags that came with the gun and it shot perfectly. So, I guess I'll try to take it back to the store I bought it from to see what they can do about it. Probably nothing, and I'll have to send it to Glock. Just an extra postage cost on top of buying the thing. That'll be my luck I'm sure.

Sorry guys and gal...I don't mean to turn this thread into "Scott's gun blog".

Haven't heard from Steve in quite a while. Bet he's getting antsy for his trike. Wonder if his chromed wheel has come back yet?

Different brands of ammo have different points of impact. Just make sure to do final sight adjustments with your carry ammo.

The offer still stands for the 42 coming to me since you are having problems. Seems strange to only be the one mag with the problem.

It's one of the first mags that came out with the 42. There was a design flaw. Any mag with the designation '01' is not good. The other two that didn't have a problem were marked '03'.

Oh, yeah...as part of 'Scott's gun blog' tonight, my magazine extensions came in the mail today. Look back and the last pic of the 30S and look at this one and see if you notice any difference. I can surely feel a difference.

Okay I'm here. My chrome wheel shipped yesterday. Due to arrive next week. There was a delay on my trike conversion because of a paint booth permit failure. All is good now. They paint and assemble it next week.

I noticed you mentioned about mailing guns. I have a legal way to ship them without an FFL dealer being involved. Post Office is a no-no, no matter what you do.

First just take it apart and pack it in two separate boxes. Then ship FedEx or UPS listing them as gun parts. You can ask and I have done it plenty of times.

Here is a pic of it sitting on the lift awaiting the body and kit install. He hasn't removed my tour pack yet so as not to have it laying around to be damaged. Keep you fingers crossed that next week will be a winner.

No go there as well. The frame, even without any other parts whatsoever counts as a whole gun. Can't ship it through any carrier unless an FFL is involved.

Not related to this, but I've seriously considered paying the $200 and getting a FFL for myself.

Glad to see you around, btw.

Well I have shipped them via FedEx. The frame in one box. And the rest in another. They told me to list them as gun parts. Maybe they made it up. But I have never had an issue and I am still here to talk about it. Just check with them. It has been a few years since I have done this though.

Antsy is not the word about my trike conversion! It is keeping me up at night. They have had it for 3 weeks now. It looks like it will at least be 4 weeks before I get near the end.

I just did a search online and I guess I got lucky. I will not do it again. As I said it has been several years since I did this. As usual having it in writing is always better than verbal!

Yeah, I just did a search several week back is how I know. A guy was wanting to send me a gun and said he would mail it to me. I googled and told him it was a no-go.

And hey, if it's keeping you up at night, you should be on the thread!! By the way, what's your weapon brand of choice (if you have one).

Wow. There sure are a lot of trains that come by the prison these days. There is a single track behind the reservation that runs from AK Steel to Kentucky Electric Steel. That used to be all it was used for, was product running back and forth between the two places. At that time, you MIGHT hear one a night. Now the trains run imported garbage to a dump somewhere in-between the steel mills. The trash comes in via barge on the Ohio River is moved by crane over to flat cars, strapped down and moved on it's 10 mile trip.

The inmates call it 'The Stink Train'.

Scott my weapon of choice is an interesting question; in my final years with the Sheriffs Office I carried a Beretta 92D (a double action only) in 9mm. A great shooting gun. Off duty I either carried a Glock 26 or a S&W 642 (.38). I still have them all and I qualify every year with all three. I purchased a Glock 42 last year for my wife. She is a shooting star with that gun. She shoots half dollar size groups. Not bad for someone that doesn't shoot regularly or uses it in a profession.

I envy her. I suck with the 42. I can't hit crap at 10 yards.

Well, tonight starts a new quarter for me. I'm also in a new unit. I decided to move after 5 quarters in the same place. It's not all new to me though. I was here for 4 quarters before I went to the unit I just came out of. Weirdly enough, the guy that was in here last quarter is in my old unit this quarter. Difference is, I'm close to the top of the seniority roster and he is nearly dead last. Lots of people wanted the unit I was in, but just didn't list it as a pick because they thought I would take it again. That guy was happy because both units have the same days off, and that's what he needed.

That Beretta 92D--isn't it what replaced the 1911s that the military carried prior to '85? I know the 1911 is also single action only as I had one for a short while. :) And wondering--were your duty weapons supplied by the SO, or did you have to buy your own? When I was with the local Sheriffs Office in the 90s, I was required to carry a Glock 22, but had to purchase it myself. Kinda sucked.
