My 2016 triglide has jumped into gear a couple of times. One time i was starting to back up and it jumped in gear and stalled the engine the nuetral light was on. one other time it was just idling in nuetral with nuetral light on and it jumped in gear and stalled engine. it is hard to get in nuetral. I have had a 1000 mile service at dealer and have syn oil in all holes. i have an appointment next week to have checked

Hi :wave4:. I'm not an expert by any means. Kind of a newbie actually. Something that popped into my head when I read your post....is your foot completely off the shifter when this happens? I know that when mine is in neutral it doesn't take much to nudge it down into first.

Just guessing here , But if the lever where the shifter rod is connected to isn't tighten down on the transmission shaft' And has excessive play The Vibrations/shaking it back and forth can possibly cause the trans when its in neutral to drop into first...

Yes ... VERY COMMON failure point is inner shift linkage pinch bolt. It needs blue loctite and/or lock washer.

I changed the shifter peg on one of my Harley's and it started jumping gear on it's own. The peg I put on was heavy, I put the old peg back on and never had the problem again. The added weight of the peg along with the vibration from a good cam seemed to be the right combination to slip it in gear.
