Looks like It’s time for a new battery, but in the mean time, can I use one of those little battery jump packs hooked up thru my factory battery tender plug, to boost my tri glide without damaging anything?

No, that is too much amperage for that wire

You can put a jumper cable hot lead on the main starter lug and ground the other clamp on the frame, or you can under the RS cover jump the reverse motor relay with a hot lead and ground the frame

If you try to jump start it by another vehicle (car or truck) besure the car is shut off and not running

Too high of amperage from a running vehicle;)

The charging system(alternators) on cars and trucks with the engine running can sometimes over power a motorcycle charging system… Better safe than sorry…

i have heard that before but i think the old wives are at it again

i agree better safe that sorry but got a hard time believing anyone is sorry..

if the jumping battery is not almost dead already how is it going to over power or have too much amps???

watch the volt meter or better yet an amp meter or amp meter on a battery charger charger / alternator will only put out what a battery will take... it will reduce the output as battery come fully charged

Wife's tail OR no Wife's tail, Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy even take the chance, if the charg'n vehicle (shut off) does start your bike than your all set...you ride off into the sunset, w/a smile on your face, without a problem.... BUT if you allow the charg'n vehicle to be running, and yea blow your electrical system, than you know we were right.. (and your in for a $$$ expensive repair/plus a tow'ing bill)

Some of us r just trying to help you out here!!

I carry a jump box just in case I need it or, can help others.

In addition, I installed this on my battery - now, if I need it, just plug the box in here

Thanks for the link

My pleasure.

I actually got two - one for my house generator 8700 unit. This generator can pull most of my house and sits outside under the deck (sheltered mostly from the weather.

During the winter here, even with a trickle charger, that little battery sort of drains a bit. It is OK during the warmer weather.

So, if I go outside to start it, and the battery is wesk, I simply hook up my jump and, away she goes.

Able to keep my generator in garage.. Runs whole house ,if elec goes out Just wheel it out the garage door. It has a battery back-up to open..

My garage is on one side of the house and the power box is on the other side. From my back shelter, I have a cable that runs into the system, start the generator and flip the switches.

Generator will power everything except the central air. My Generac is about 13 years old and runs on gasoline. Cost me about $800 back then. About $400 to have it connected with transfer switch. Thought that was much better than the $10,000 they wanted for the auto connect unit.

Worried that my old unit would fail, I purchased another one that is 10K - dual fuel, gasoline and propane. That new on is in the garage because the old Generac is still running strong. I start them once a month for about 10 minutes - did that yesterday

My panel is just inside the Garage door. Run the cord out the door, fire it up & close the door. Cost about the same for switches & install. If I ever have to replace, I will go with the auto system ,now available for natural gas. Much easier for old farts like me.;)

Hopefully, you will not have to replace it.

I looked into the natural gas one that is automatic...well, hold your back pocket - that thing installed is about $13,000. My sister in Virginia has one and several folks in our neighborhood has them.

We lose power maybe 3-4 times per year. Since mine is already outside, it is just a matter of hitting the switch.

Were you able to order that cable?

Got the cable ordered... not sure which jump pack though. One place I looked the 1500 was OUT. Is this preferred ??
