Jack for MT Adventure kit

I noticed on a couple of recent posts some awkward ways of raising a GL1800 with a Motor Trike Adventure kit installed. I purchased a long reach low profile jack from Harbor Freight and adapted it to fit the frame of a MT kit. I bolted a piece of 1” angle to the swivel so that it fits behind the differential mounting bolts on the frame and spans past each one. I did that to stabilize the trike when it was airborne. It also prevented any slipping off the swivel when I raised it. I had to drill and counter sink the bolts through the swivel to clear the swivel pad, but that wasn't too difficult. It’s pretty stable when I raise the rear, but I wouldn’t climb on the trike until I get the stands under it. When I get the back raised, it is pretty easy to raise the front. I drilled a block to fit over the angle mounting nuts and it fits under the shields mounting brackets. It might not work for everybody, but made it easy for me.

Might be time for me to buy a new floor jack. I don't have enough clearance to get under the front supports of my running boards with my current jack.

The rear isn't an issue but the front is a PIA for me for sure.

Thanks for the pictures and measurements.

Also good to see Im not the only one who doesn't clean those blasted chromed exhaust tips..........

You're welcome.

I had ramps I could drive up on, but their footprint was so large, it didn't leave me much room to work under the trike. Besides, if the trike wasn't running, I couldn't get it up there. I don't have the shop room for a permanent lift, so a floor jack was really my only option. I had to drive up on 2 x 6's to get my auto floor jack under the frame. When I saw this jack at HB on sale, I jumped at the chance. I'm happy, my wife's happy, and life is grand.:)
