I'm sure many of you have ridden this road before, but this was my first on it with a trike. Have to say it was GREAT! Been on it several times on a two wheeler along with 300,000 of my nearest and dearest friends during Sturgis, so this was a treat to have the road almost to yourself.

For those of you that haven't ridden this, it's 17 miles long with 314 curves, 14 switchbacks, 3 one way tunnels, 2 split roads, 3 pigtails, and you get a great view of Mt. Rushmore.

Sorry, no photos. Too busy riding!!

I've ridden that road on both 2 wheels and 3 wheels also, its a lot of fun and scenic.

Yes a must ride if you have not. And like you if you get there before a crowd makes it even more fun. Glad you enjoyed it.

Many Many years ago....I can remember the first time on Needles Hwy....and I came upon the first 270 degree under the bridge and thinking, damn I hope I'm in the right gear! What a great road. The rest of that story is after finishing that stretch, we turned around and did it again!! LOL

Glad you enjoyed the ride, that is one of my favorite rides in the Black Hills. But then again a lot of their roads are great rides. Our HOG group does a "Needles Run" every June for the past 8 years. One thing about the Iron Mountain Road is to ride it from the south going north. As you go thru the tunnels you will see Mt. Rushmore directly in front of you. This past June we rode the Nemo road for the first time and that was a nice ride as well. My two young grandsons got a kick out of the picture I sent them of the Nemo road sign. I told them I found Nemo.

We rode the Nemo Road too over the weekend. A great ride, but keep an eye out for the wild turkeys. They're everywhere along that road.
