Hi- 2014 Tri, I've been listening to music with the USB thru a thumb drive. It just started acting up the other day. What happens is a song is playing and then pauses for a split second or longer then continues. It doesn't lose it's place, it's just interrupted briefly. Has this happened to anyone? I transferred the music from CD's to the drive on the Mac, but 99% sure that the songs I've been hearing it happen to, weren't doing it before. I checked the drive it was in there good but I pulled it out and reinserted but still does it. Thanks, Rich

The only thing I can think of at the moment, have you updated the software for your boombox. I know that sometimes USB sticks do go bad but very seldom, I've had a couple fail over the years from constant use.

Thanks. I have not updated the software. Kind of leery. I guess could be the stick, I'll have to look into that.

Are you wearing a helmet with a headset? If so check your intercom vox settings. If to low (too sensitive) the ambient noise while riding could break vox and activate the intercom momentarily.

I have a '14 Tri Glide with the radio software up to date. I had a program I could burn music from You Tube and download to a USB thumbdrive. I did have similair problems. Like it was a buffering problem. I wasn't sure the reason, but thought it may be caused by having MP3 and MP4 files on the same stick. I converted the MP4's to MP3's and reduced the number of songs stored on the stick greatly. From 100+ songs down to ~30 songs. I have had no issus after that. I did lose my album art being displayd on the radio, though, which kind of sucked.

Recently, (a month ago) a friend with a '16 Ultra Glide was having similair problems while on a ride. His thoughts were he had recently added alot of songs to the thumb drive and said anytime he gets too many songs on it, it stars to act up. I asked how many songs he had on it and he said hundreds. I have not asked since what he has done or if the problem was solved.

I don't know if any of that points to anything definitive. You could test by reducing the # of files on the stick and try it again. But, if others have 100+ songs on a drive without problems, that may be barking up the wrong tree.

Good luck.

Thumb Drive

I recently had the same problem on my 2019 Tri Glide. I switched out the thumb drive to a new one. That did the trick. No more lagging or pausing. Good luck.

Thanks Jeff. I do have almost 500 songs on it. Agree, it is like buffering. Funny how it just began though. Still need to investigate the stick too.

I have 4700 songs on one stick and 800 on another stick and I never had a problem with it so it’s not the amount of songs…. In my humble opinion there’s something else going on..??

Doing a little research and there is some thinking that the audio alerts on the Navigation could be interrupting the music. The Nav is the last thing I messed with so it could be so. Will check it out when it finally stops raining here.
