Took a ride last week - decided to try a new area. The road SUCKED, but the scenery was nice....even after coming around a bend to find a very large cow grazing on the side of the road!!

Decided to head north today. Road wasn't too bad - in most places anyway. Hot in the sun, until I got into the state forest area. Nice & cool, road was a little better, but I was still going below the speed limit because of the frost heaves & bumps. Good thing too - came around a corner, and not twenty feet in front of me was a black bear in the road!! :AGGHH: I still do not know how I managed to keep the bike going, since I REALLY wanted to turn around & couldn't!!. My bike was loud enough to startle it into the woods, but he stopped about 5 feet in and just looked at me over his shoulder.....needless to say, I gunned it the hell out of there! And did NOT use that road home!

Going to go relax now....a shower & and a book sounds like plenty of excitement for the rest of the day.

;)

Some people have all the excitement!!!! What a day you had, Cheri!

Our wildlife-on-the-road this weekend included one turtle, three snakes, and a bunch of dead squirrels..... but nothing big and exciting in any way!!!

I enjoyed your ride tale. Good to read that kind of story.

Back roads and wild life.
Cattle - Yes, many times.
Snakes - Yes, biggest was an 8 foot python.
Dogs - yes, more than I could count.
Cats - Yes, a few.
Echidna - Yes, once.
Kangaroos - Yes, a few times is more than enough. They'll jump off the road away from you then jump back onto the road. A real worry.
Wombat - Yes, once. Missed it but have been told that it is like hitting a tree stump.
Bears - Never. That sounds really scary !
Unless you count koalas. Not really bears. They do have a bad attitude & big claws though.

Sounds like a fun ride Cheri. I was hit once by a bat. It bounced off my leg and died in the bikes engine. This could explain why I can ride through night, though.
