Import a trike

Anyone on here successfully imported a trike from the UK into the US? I have only recently finished my VW custom trike, which is now totally UK road legal with all the relevant paperwork. I will be relocating to Houston, TX, in August and am torn with the thought that I will have to sell my pride and joy. Anyone have any advice on importing custom vehicles into Houston and getting them licensed/registered in the US. I would really like to bring my trike with me!!

I would also contact Texas DMV. I have been hearing that Texas will no longer license home made trikes. Maybe someone from Texas will chime in with the details.

That is correct. Texas law now states that vehicles home built from two dissimilar other vehicles cannot be tagged, titled, or renewed. Only people I know of who have successfully tagged theirs have used either motorcycle or car registration, which of course leads to other possible problems.
