Im sorry, have question about oil filters

I searched so much on google about what oil filter to use I am getting conflicting opinions.

I always used Supertech on my prior bikes and realize their no longer available at Wally World. I read in two different threads via google that the bypass valve on a car oil filter is not able to handle the oil pressure from a Goldwing oil pump?

I have read of in my opinion very respectful people like Steve Sanders and his forum where a list of aftermarket oil filters are suggested.

So I find myself wondering if I should just spend the money on a OEM Honda GL 1800 filter vs Wix, Purolator etc. I am using Mobile 1 10W40 motorcycle oil and just need to decide on filter. I believe Rotella 15w40 would have been fine too but with Mobile One regarding oil. I guess I have opened up another can of worms with this post but hopefully I can make up my mind.

any thoughts regarding the bypass valve on car filter vs cycle oil pump pressure?

jmho, if a manufacturer says that the filter is designed for your Honda, why not use it?

I had a 1996 Toyota that I bought new, I changed the oil every 4-5 thousand miles and changed the Fram filter every other oil change. I sold it at 130,000 miles, the second owner now has over 300,000 miles on the engine without a problem.

One other thing, I bought whatever oil that was on sale.

Pearl (1990 Gold Wing SE) I change the oil every 3000 miles.Use Honda oil & filters. She has 78000 miles without any engine problems. To a certain point I think do what makes you comfortable.RIDE SAFE

Honda's are just broken in at 50,000 miles I am sure any filter that fits will work. It will not blow apart. Use Shell Rotella 5w 30 in the Blue
gallon jug.

I've used Honda Semi-Synthetic Oil, and Honda OEM Filters for Years now with absolutely zero problems on many, many Honda Motorcycles.....just hard for me to change at this point.....ThumbUp

You spent all that money on your trike, why would you buy a cheep NON-OEM oil filter??? OEM oil filters only cost $9-$10 each when ordered online. I order 3-5 filters at one time to get free shipping. I also use synthetic oil and change it at 5000 miles.

I would use the motorcycle filters. Seems to me the metal on the outside of the filters is thicker than the car oil filters. More protection maybe.

here ya go.

The differences in both brand name part numbers is "One filter is slightly longer than the other" (you'll have to measure yours and then theirs for correct filter length for your bike))
This is important if you have a 06 up with the heated vents in the header covers.
"The cables won't allow the slightly longer filter to be used"
