Fairly new here and I posted my Tricycle for sale because I don't feel comfortable riding while taking pain meds and I can no longer ride without taking pain meds. I have 5 levels of pain, most doctors say rate your pain from 1 to 10. Mine never goes under 5, that's where I take 2 asprin and start looking for the the percosets, 6 is where I find the bottle and try to get the child proof cap off, 7 is where I smash the bottle and take one, 8 is where I take 2 more, 9 I stick a gun in my mouth, 10 I pull the trigger.

After riding just 6 miles to town and back I'm at level 8 and thinking about 9.

Anyway I put my tricycle up for sale @ $27,000 two months ago I've got it down to $21,000 now and I still haven't had even an offer on it. This is not your run of the mill Harley Tri Glide that I'm trying to sell, I've been told by many that it's one of the nicest trikes they've ever seen, I've never entered it in a show that I didn't ride away from with 1st place in it's class. The trike is in perfect condition and well maintained, I really don't understand why no one will even give me $21,000 for this bike but if I traded it in to a dealer they would jump on it for $26,000 and tell everyone how the stole it. Please explain?

I've found it hard to sell a really personalized bike/trike. Most people will figure it will always be identified as your ride. It's almost impossible to recoup costs.

And, on the other hand, what's happening down here, if a person had enough money to buy a near new ride, they would do just that. Some dealers make it easy with their low down, long term payment plans, where it's easy to get into an expensive rig with much less cash out of pocket.

That's a good looking tri, good luck with the sale.

You don't say how long the bike has been advertised or where it's listed, but sometimes it feels like you can't give one away.

I finally sold my old trike last month. It took 9 months to get the attention of the right buyer and I eventually reduced my price by $5,000.

Last two bikes I've sold were through CycleTrader listings. I've also listed on Craigslist, TrikeTalk, and several other sites.

Hang in there and keep as many active ads going as you can. Sooner or later somebody will come along that likes your trike just as much as you did when you got it.

Before you get drastic like this, go see a pain manager and at least try one of the many patches they have. My pain never goes below a 6 but we are all different when it comes to pain. But I understand where you are. My doc put me on Fentanyl with Hydrocodone as a break through for when it really gets bad. One every three days of the 75mg patch but had to go to every other day. It's worth a try. I was taking 6 pain pills a day. With the patch there are days I never have a single pill. But then other days maybe 3. Those a rare though.

I really like the patch cause it doesn't make me sleepy.

Are you advertising it as a tricycle, Just that name would turn some people off...
Tricycle sounds like a kids toy.
Trike, or 3 wheel Motorcycle might get more lookers....:Shrug:

Your trike is going to have to appeal to a certain person. The have to like flames. While they look good, as you read this board, look and see how many trikes in sig pictures are flamed like yours. Your seats look great but they are outside the normal black that folks are accustomed to seeing. I'd put the stockers back on and give away the custom seats as a bonus to the buyer. You have a great looking trike, but your market will be somewhat limited. Not what you want to hear I know but I think it is the truth.

Good luck, keep on advertising it again as a Trike. It will sell

I have sold several bikes and find the closer to stock and original a bike is the easier to sell. I take the good stuff off and sell it separate.

Motorcycles that are personalized are hard to sell. You'll have to wait a long time before you find the right buyer.
Trade it or reduce the price, taking a loss, but getting rid of it.

I have had a stock trike for sale for over a month without a single offer. I am not lowering the price but might if negotiated. I am patient and still ride it now and then. I figure someone would rather have new than used and this process is going to take some time.

Bad thing is new models come out in a few more months. That means prices will drop on current models.

Well I'm loading up with Percosets and Oxycotin and heading down to Maggie Valley for a week of riding and drinking the 22nd at the OFOPOS Rally, changed all the fluids and started giving The Tricycle a wax job. Wow she sure looks pretty, and draws in humming birds and bees. Thanks for the suggestions and feedback, I'll keep advertising it but I'm afraid that if I dropped the price any lower people are going to think there is something wrong.

Are the flames painted on? If they can be removed it will sell lots faster. That is my 2 cents worth.

The flames are painted on, cleared over and the paint is smoother than bathing suit models ass

The brown seats are just fine. The yellow flames???? Not so much. You may have to paint it or reduce the price by the cost of a paint job.

I think you have the general idea of why it isn't selling. It may be a show stopper when you enter it in shows, but it isn't a buyer magnet. The buyer would have to love flames, love them in your color combination, and be crazy about having a tan seat. If the buyer doesn't like all that, then he's looking at repainting a whole bunch of stuff, all the time and $$$ involved in removing that from the trike, and replacing the seating. All of a sudden it starts looking like a heck of a lot more trouble than it's worth since he can get a vivid black stocker down the road for the same or less money.

It can take a long time to sell a nice,modified ride. Price-wise,$21K is cheap for a nice Tri-Glide. If a buyer doesn't like the seat,it won't cost a fortune to change as Ultra upholstery is a dime a dozen on ebay. As for the flames,they look well done and even though a lot of people do not like them,there are quite a few people that do. They key is patience. If you're in a hurry,you will lose your a$$.

Quit calling your trike a Trycycle. It's an insult and turns potential buyers off. It's a nice ride so be proud to own it.

Already losing my ass a 21,000 but willing to take the hit rather than parking it in the barn to take up space and collect dust.
