I got Hacked!!!!

Just want to say thank you to those that have checked in on me. My e-mail account was hacked and they sent out a false e-mail stating I was in Manila, Philippines and I had gotten rob and needed money. They even provided western union information to wire the money. Let me say I
I am not in the Philippines… I am in the USA and don’t need any money….After waiting 12 hours I finally got into my e-mail account and made some changes. They wiped out my contact list and any current e-mails that I had. Again I only know many of you through e-mails and many of u checked in on me by e-mail to see how I was doing.

PS: Watch out for scams!

Thanks again
Joe

I had the same thing happen to me, I think it was last year, maybe year before. It was on my FB account. They were talking with my friends, using my profile. It just happened that one of the people they choose is a very close friend that lives only abou 20 miles from me. She called me the morning it was going on and asked me "where are you" I said I
m sittling here in front of the computer drinking coffee. She then told me what was going on, so I immediately put out a warning that I was safe that I had been hacked and just ignore any request about me needing money. I then notified FB and they shut down my account to try to find the problem. After about a month, I just opened a new account and started from scratch. They told me that if you leave your profile open all the time, it can happen eaisly. Now I always log off, kinda inconvient to have to sign in every time, but better safe than sorry. Glad everything turned out good for you.

I "kinda-sorta" got "hacked" too. Somehow my contact list got in the hands of 1.) a Canadian drug company, and 2.) some company that promises "easy money" by following certain simple steps. What they do is send me an e-mail listing it from someone in my contact list. Of course I would open it thinking my buddy sent it. There would be an ad for Canadian Viagra, etc!!! or someone made so much money in a very easy way!! Hasn't happened in a while though. Thank goodness.

A friend of mine had the very same message sent out when his e-mail address was compromised late last year. Glad you got it all sorted out.

Does this mean you;ll be refunding the money I sent??? I only had 10k on me so that's all I sent... I'll leave you my address.. send cash!!! :D

a few people have fallen for that and lost their money. i heard of a case that they claimed to be someones grandson and was in trouble and he needed money. she sent it and later found he was ok. of course the money was long gone. just another twist to the Nigerian scam.
