I Didn't Realize

Ok, it was 28 degrees this morning, so I put on some warm clothing and fired up the trike. All went well, I rode for about 15 miles around town, kept the speeds to under 50 because it was kind cold. I figured out what kind of added clothing I would need for the next ride, gassed up and went home. Since the ride had gone so well and I hadn't ridden the scooter for a while, (Piaggio MP3 500) I fired it up as well. For those unfamiliar with it, it has a very short shield and leg fairings, that's it. Within a couple of miles I figured out COLD. I gassed it and took it back to the garage. I guess the engine heat and fairings on the trike are pretty darn effective. Oh well, the scooter goes up for sale this spring anyway, since the wife wants garage space.

I keep thinking about heated gear. Not sure what is the best way to start. I have ridden in extreme cold, bones are getting old and sure hurt when things get cold. Jim

We started with the Gerbing Jacket Liners and Gerbing Glove, along with 2 controllers.

That was a bit over 3 years ago and we have been very happy with them.

Chart doesn't go low enough, since I regularly will go out in 0'F at 75mph. I assume it is cold enough that squirrels wouldn't even want those "acorns".

Now that I am on my laptop, had a copy of this wind chill chart. a little better for me. And gives you all the formula for calculating wind chill at any speed. Try not to shiver to much. :qpnmt:
