How Happy or Sad are You with Your Trike Conversion Unit?

I've been researching those. Seem to have everything you could want in a trike except people (myself included) still haven't gotten used to the looks of the 2 wheels in front yet. I have to try one. They're one of the few companies in Massachusetts that will let you test drive them. The biggest problem is most likely finding a dealership that knows how to work on them.

Brian, you point out a couple of things of interest, especially the dealership that can do the fix. That is one big "if". Horror stories still abound. One dealer I know locally, they do Canam Spyders, Polaris Sling Shot and four wheelers, and Indian m/c's. Well my friend just bought an Indian there, the battery died soon thereafter, friend hauls the Indian back to the dealer for a warranty fix, the Indian tech is off on a cruise; come on, surely there is a tech that can replace a battery that doesn't have to be Indian certified, but then, maybe there's some kind of rule or complication. This is not a condemnation of Canam dealers, just a look behind the scenes in support of your last statement.

I've posted on this forum that I did the demo ride on the Spyder RT, I truly enjoyed the ride, could not find fault, front wheels, no problem for me and I've been doing the Road Smith for over 6 years with wheels in the back. In the end, I chose to stay with what I know vs what I don't know even though I was sorely tempted by the Spyder RT. The wife liked it, I liked it, but that's not all there is to buying what you want to serve your riding needs and fit your financial wallet.

I have had 2 trikes my first was a 98 Valkryie done with motor trike kit no problem what so ever it ran like a well oiled machine my second trike 07 gl1800 Goldwing with roadsmith kit on my second rear end and driveshaft very unsure about this rear end tried to get answers if second rear end is under warranty but no answers ask installer no answer called roadsmith they hung up on me I am always listening and feeling for something be careful with roadsmith my view only

Having ridden (demo), I love that Spyder RT paddle shifter. Probably never have one, but it's sure nice.

Yep, my wife loves hers. I forget about on those very rare occasions I have to ride it and forget to down shift after being frustrated up shifting. Glad it takes care of my incompetence. After that slight problem shifting up and I remember just how easy it is, I like it too.

Hello, and thank you for the quick reply to my question.

I am still very new to trikes and only have had mine a couple of weeks, I put a photo in my newbie introduce yourself post (Howdy from San Angelo Texas).

I can do paint and body work if I need to (it's very labor intensive), and I have seen several trike photos with snap on vinyl covers and yours was the first I had seen attacking the problem using rhino lining.

I can imagine that the front of the fenders could be a high prone paint chip area, and really wondered if I should address this before it gets chipped up?

My trike is getting a couple things taken care of. I did take it back there because I like the new mechanic. Last year he tweaked a few things on my trike and got it handling sweet. I no longer had to muscle the turns. He brought me back and showed me what he did and why he did it. I liked that.

I still don't have my exhaust and windshield. He was supposed to pay me for them but still hasn't. I'm pretty sure that when I go down to pick up my trike and he hands me the bill for my repairs, I will tell him to deduct it from what he owes me. I think it might be a wash.

The new mechanic, was his name James, by any chance? I spoke with James the other day and was very impressed, he knew his "stuff'

Well, I've had 2 trikes. Had my 04 Wing converted with a CSC. Liked the kit, but didn't like the monoshock suspension system. Then bought a 12 with a new 14 Hannigan kit. Don't think there is anything to dislike on this ride. Thought serious about spending the kids inheritance and buying a 2018 and have a Hannigan installed on it until I actually saw the 18 and was so disappointed with the reduced storage capacity. Decided to ride this 12 until either it dies or I do.

Whoa, nice MT. Happy with my 2005 GW/2012 Road Smith conversion, it kept me on the road of motorcycling since beginning two wheels early 1968. Millie and I do enjoy the trip from FL to TN to ride the mountains. Two wheels got a bit much for two up at the ripe old age of 86, so there ya go.
