I built this wrap around heat shield by cutting a 4" Echo tip in half - Made some simple brackets and attached it over the factory shield with about a 3/4 inch air gap - If you look straight down you can see a lot of the converter - By mounting this with about 1" of extra over hang it will "cap" that heat source - The air space acts like a scoop and does wonders to carry that heat away from the rider and passenger - This is attached with standard hose clamps 20180825_170837.jpg20180826_183528.jpg20180826_183501.jpg

This is for your Freewheeler?

Exhaust Shield

Yes - I actually built and installed this on my FreeWheeler which is shown - That said it will fit a TriGlide or any other Harley Touring with similar style converter - Just cut the overall length to fit your ride - It is very important to rotate the shield towards the motor until it covers that inch or so that is currently visible up top next to the engine - I used a 2.5 and a 3" screw type hose clamp - Very cheap to make and works wonders

Heat Shield

I posted this to help others with a similar problem - Suggesting that someone mass produce this so you can call it your idea is nothing short of Illegal - Anyone tries doing that without my direct permission will be soon served with papers from my lawers office - Don't even think about it- Oh ,you can think about it alright - But,Don't do it .

Have a nice day OLBLU

Sugarbear glad to know your all lawyered up on your heat shield. Be assured that I personally won’t attempt to market this idea. I’m too busy having fun. By the way those armadillos are slowly working there way into eastern Kansas. Is there anything your lawyer can do about that?

Sorry Sugarbear. You misunderstood what I meant. I have a lot of DK customs parts on my trike which I like to tell people how good they are.

I didn't mean to claim the idea was mine.

Posting the pics and text was a novel move on your part, I applaud you

But be for warned this is exactly how products get stolen with out copy rights or patents

Even HD has faced this problem a few times in the past JMHO

Follow up

Since I had the other have of the ECHO tube - I built a short extra shield for the vertical section of the rear header pipe - Once I tested it and realized how well it worked keeping my leg cooler - I marked it with a marker ,pulled it off and cut it to match the curve at the top and the line of the tranny cover at bottom - Trust me guys - Between the pair its the most functional thing Ive ever built

As doc Brown said in Back to the Future - " Great Scott , It works ! "
