Just came back from a 700 miler from my house to the southeast Kentucky/ western Virginia area. What a beautiful and interesting area. Big mountains, history and twisties! The roads were in very good shape. The folks there are promoting the area as a motorcycle destination and have launched a website

that has all the info and maps. They'll even send you a hard copy. They have more planned and are soliciting suggestions for other roads to ride in the area. I only hit about 4 of the suggested rides before a coming storm drove me back home near Knoxville. I had planned to stay four days. Since winter is coming and snow in the mountains ain't fun, you might want to put this on a to do list once it thaws. I know I will return often.ThumbUp

I have ridden that area many times over a period of 40 years and agree that it is one of the most beautiful places to ride in the Eastern US. And the folks are great along the way.

Thanks for that website - I just ordered the maps. Gonna be hard to wait for spring!

Thanks for the web site , looking like a beauty location for future visit. When normally does the snow hit that area???
Unfortunately, the weather report this morning in Knoxville said there is a chance of snow in southeast Kentucky. Mountains can be tricky. Even if there is no snow, early morning cold can give you black ice in the areas that are in the shade a lot. But it's still pretty early for that. I usually stay out of the local mountains from mid-December through January. I can pretty much ride year round everywhere else with my heated seat, jacket and gloves.
