Just traded my freewheerler for a 2018 Tri-Glide. On the right side of fairing there is a compartment with a USB plug and when i am playing the radio and plug in my phone to charge it the radio quits. If I hook up with blue-tooth and playing something on XM and plug phone it does not play over the speakers. PLEASE what am i doing wrong. Thanks in advance!!!!

To play the XM over the speakers, plug the XM into the AUX jack on the front of the radio. Also the radio should be set on Auxiliary mode. I don't know about the USB plug

Good luck

Hi Michael. I think I can help - hope so anyway. I just got my 2018 Tri-Glide one week ago but for the past year I've had a 2017 CVO Limited which has the same Boom Box! audio system so I am somewhat familiar with it - not an expert but hope I can explain what is going on.

First absolutely no disrespect to Sully's response - but the Boom Box! does not come with a Auxiliary input. It can be added - a cable with a 3.5mm socket to which you can plug in various audio devices. Adding the Aux connection also requires a dealer flash to the Boom Box. But this is NOT related to the question / problem you are having.

The USB plug in the compartment is an input for media to the Boom Box. For example, I have many songs on a USB thumbdrive. I plug it in to the USB and can play music through the Boom Box. And when you plug your phone in to the USB the Boom Box just recognizes it as another audio input device. You can have songs on your phone, or you can put your phone on Pandora or other music channels and play music just like I said you can do with the thumbdrive.

So when the Boom Box is looking at the USB as its input device it is called 'Media.' Your other input devices are AM, FM. WB, AUX (if you added it), and XM (which you said you did add). So when you plug in your phone I think the Boom Box is switching from say XM to Media.

You can select your input source from the Home screen of the Boom Box. So plug in your phone. Push the Home button and select whatever input source you wish. And you can scroll through the input sources without having to go 'Home' each time. I really like this capability. To set that up go to Home, Setup and use the right arrows to scroll down and select Classic Mode. Then the round Home button on your left side switches next to cruise control will scroll you through your input sources rather than taking you Home as the factory setting does. You can still push the button on the upper left side of the Boom Box itself to select Home.

As for audio through the speakers or through the headset go into Audio Setup. There you can select speaker or headset for each of the input sources.

I hope this makes sense as it is a bit confusing and overwhelming when it is all new. If what I suggested does not for some reason work for you please respond and we will give it another go.

Jerry

Added: like you said when you plug your phone in to the USB it will charge the phone!
