HELP! Right Side Engine Cover

I just discovered I have lost my GL 1800 right side engine cover and was wondering if any one knew of a used part shop or where I may purchase one? I really don't want to spend $400 for a new one, but if I can't get any help, then I will have to go that route.

That is the most lost part on ( assume you are speaking of a Goldwing of some years or another you don't say ) the 1500 Wing. They are on e bay. The lettering and emblem will cost you $50.00 or more . They get lost because you remove them the most to check and replace the battery. Replace the grommets every 3 years.

When you do get a replacement, do what many of us have done, that is add a short piece of fishing leader to keep from losing it again. You want to make it long enough to be able to remove the cover, but not so long for the cover to touch the road. I used stranded wire leader and drilled through one of the tabs inside the cover to clip it on inside where it is out of sight. When removing the cover inspect the rubber gromets since they tend to get pushed thru and fall out.

I knew about the leads, but you know the old saying, it will never happen to me...Well it did and now, I will do it. The left side will never come out because of the heel and toe shifter is in the way.

TIP
When riding single , fold the rider floor boards up. when riding 2 up your riders legs prevent it from falling off.

Thank you everybody for your help. I got a Thread at my GL 1800 Riders telling me where I may purchase the part for $ 120+, which at one time was $400+. I guess from what I was able to termine, the part has been discounted, maybe because the new model has come into play. Don't really know why, but that's my guess.

Again thank for all your help. I will use the fishing line and tie the side cover to the trike when I get the new one.

WOW, just learned Kury has a new item available this June!

Chrome side covers, which you do not have to take off to check the oil level. There is a place built in the side cover to do that. Cost is $199 for a pair which match each other, as they won't match the original chrome side cover on there now.
