Hello My name is Earl

All buttoned up, generator full of fresh fuel and oil, plenty of food and cold drinks on hand. Just a normal Carolina day except for little wind and rain that's coming for a visit. About the only thing I had to do differently today is put the Shadow on a trailer in the garage, get things off the garage floor (put it on 3 ft high benches) and park the Kia on high ground down the road.

It's already raining here and the wind is about 40 MPH. It'll increase later tonight but I'm not going to stay up and lose sleep over it. Been through too many of them here and The Orient where they are called Typhoons.

No damage here in Pamlico County last night. Earl stayed further off the Coast than predicted. Checked the rain gauge after I got up this AM and found only 3/4" of water in it and none in my ditches.

We dodged another hurricane but now the Weather Guessers are talking about Gaston being the next probable hurricane to threaten the US. Think I'll NOT take the stuff down that I put up for Earl since Gaston may come "a knocking" next weekend.

Have a safe Labor Day.

No sign of Earl up here yet . Blue skies at 11:00am. No wind yet. This is Country fair week I hope we don't get rained out.
