Hi All,

Just starting my search for a trike. I've been riding since the 1970's and never ridden a trike. I built a sidecar rig many years ago, a BMW/Ural and have ridden several since. I really love my two wheel rides, currently in the garage is a 1987 Honda Goldwing Aspencade next to a 1983 BMW R100RT. Both are great long distance rides!

But now I'm looking for something that I can carry not only my wife but our dog also. The old VW trikes have my interest, the sidecar rig is fun but for long distance the asymmetrical handling is a bit tiring. A trike with room for the pooch seems like a good idea

Hello Edward

welcome to trike talk from east Texas. you will love a trike, much better then a side car. the trike, with a rake on it steers much easier, don't wear the front tie as bad, stops faster, and believe it or not, it will take a good 2 wheeler rider to stay with a Trike in the ruff stuff. it just take a little while to find out just what all it will do.

My trike hunt is stalled for the holiday season.

Just to expand on my dog carry requirements. We have a sweet, well actually a Jekyll&Hyde personality, Maltese named Tiki. If you know about Maltese you know that they have been subject to very selective breeding for at least 2 millennium to be lap dogs. So carries on the back or any carries are not going to work. So my thought about the VW tikes is with a bench for the wife, that I could enclosed enough for the lap dog to enjoy my wife's lap
