Hi Everyone,
I just joined the site over the weekend, and have really enjoyed all the information and pictures so far.
I assisted my father in building this VW trike (1972 bug, now at a tad under 2000cc)

starting in about 2000 when he lost his leg. Unfortunately, he is no longer able to ride now, and was considering selling it. I'm a little sentimental about things he has built (especially when much of the work was good old bonding time) so I sold my ural

to make some room for it in my garage.
I have been on bikes of one type or another since I was a kid, and have wrenched on them the whole while.
I look forward to meeting some other trikers in the area.

That looks like a beautiful trike, Matman! I love that you feel sentimental about it. It sounds like you have many happy memories to cherish of times spent with your Dad working on motors. That is awesome! BTW, that Ural and side car are amazing! Very nice!

Thanks. I really enjoyed the Ural, and when I get more space I would like to get a newer one. I put over 40,000km on it in the two and a half years since I rebuilt it. ( veeery slowly) the Ural was a little limiting on long trips since top speed was in the 50's, so it was all back roads. I've been tuning the vw engine a little this week, and getting the trailer hookups all wired. Hoping to do a trip on it when I get a week or so free.

Welcome, I'm a newbie here also and am bout 180 miles south of you. Maybe some day we can meet for lunch.

Just spent yesterday soaking and rebuilding the carb. It had been sitting with old gas for quite a while and had varnished up a little. jets gone through with pin gauges, etc etc. Went through an adjustment on it and the engine is pulling strong again! I forgot how hard this thing pulls on the highway when you need to accellerate out of a situation. I have the next three weeks off, so I plan to go out and do a little riding.
My oldest daughter has already picked out destinations for rides. We were a little limited on the Ural about how far we could go in a day. Nice to have more options available now.
