Hey Guys, Looking for a set of heated hand grips for my 2022 tri glide. It's my understanding the everything is pre wired in the bat wing fairing. But, every type of grip that I look at from harley keeps saying that it needs some kind of extra wiring kit to go along with it. Is this tru or is it actually plug and play using the throttle by wire connector on one side and the power connector on the other. I'm thinking they are connectors 206 and 189B. It's damn near got me pulling my hair out.

Thanks for such a quick reply, I've watched that video twice now in its entirety, and just read through the instructions for those grips. It says, first, the grips must be wired internally through the bars, and second, that you need to locate the heat grip interconnect 206 ( that's located on the right side of the fairing if your standing looking at it from the front) then it says to locate the heated grip power connector 189B( and that's located on the left side of the fairing looking at it from the front) and you connect the two plugs. Now I can't figure out why, in the video, he went through all that other troublesome wiring.

So, I'm thinking I might of found my answer to the wiring for later models but not totally convinced yet. I'm also concerned about being able to pull these connectors through my new bars. the new Krome Werks 2+2 bars just arrived yesterday and I haven't unpacked them yet. But, I understand that there is a dimple in the bars and that narrows down that area to approx. three quarters of an inch which could make it real tough to get the connectors through. I don't want to have to attempt depinning any connectors. Any suggestions about doing this project and if I'll be able to pull these wires will be greatly appreciated.

I'm thinking that you might be right but I've heard and read that it can be a nightmare trying to repin the connectors. I've got a friend down in Texas tha actually trailered his bike to a shop cause he couldn't get the pins back in the connector. Guess I'll just have to go for it and hope the connectors are slim enough to wiggle through that dimpled area of the bars. Thanks again for the response.

OK This is going to be a little long.
I did this exact set up on my 24. Kahuna Grips 56100331 off my 21 Street Glide with Tallboy Bars.
KW 2+2 narrow sweepers. I ran the wires internal. You need to open the hole in the bar on left a little to get the connector to turn flat to get through the bar. You will need to pull switch and grip wires all together. I use trimmer line with a little Silicone spray for the LEFT SIDE.

I found with the SG the clutch cable was very tight and hard to rout so I used the Fat baggers 4" extension with the replacement adjuster. (6" might work better) Also you will need to take the front brake line out of the holder on right side of frame and just zip tie to the other lines. If you go internal wiring you will need wire extensions.

X AUTOHAUX 12 Inch Handlebar CAN Bus Circuit Wire Extension from Amazon. The plugs in the fairing are a little hard to find small single wire but they are there!
Any questions? LOL!

After installing everything internally extensions were needed for both the heated grips and the switches. But, after rerouting the clutch cable from on top of the goose neck to around the front of the goose neck, and making sure all the zip ties were eliminated, it's looking like I won't need to extend the clutch cable. Will use zip ties where needed after I can confirm there's no issues with the full turning radiuses or issues of possible chaffing in the future. Not sure yet about the front brake, haven't gotten there yet but not anticipating too much of a problem. Planning on finishing this all up this afternoon. I will advise after all finished.

Well, the project is complete! I'm happy to say that a clutch extension was not needed and I got away without rerouting the front brake line. So, it is possible to install the Khrome Werks 2+2 bars and wire them and the HD Kauna heated grips internally with only purchasing the switch extension kit. Extension wires come with the Kauna grips. Weather isn't right up here in Illinois today so I haven't been able to take it for a test ride but it appears to turn stop to stop without any problems. This work was done on my 2022 Tri Glide Ultra. Safe riding everyone!!
