heated grips

I am going to put on heated grips and all the you tube videos that I have seen they do not reglue the left grip is that something they dont do because of the heated grip, in the mountains I have a tendency to twist the left side
 
I will suggest this:

My HD heated left grip allowed water intrusion, when installed per instructions:gah:

It shorted out as that is the grip the control is in.

Dealer told me to run a bead of silicon sealer around the end of it sealing it to the handle bar.

No more water instrusion and grip was firmly attached to the bar:clapping:
 
I put mine on a year and 20k ago and did not use any type of sealant / adhesive. So far so good . . . and I've been in the rain several times. Good suggestions here which I will file away for future use.

The heated grips do not glue to the bar. Even the left one is glued to a housing sleeve and the switch clam shell clamps onto that. I have not had water issues but silicon would not hurt.
