Hayden M6 Tensioner- Triglide

I read in a lot of the posts recommending switching out the stock chain tensioner on the Triglide. Since the factory unit is self adjusting, what is the advantage of replacing it with the Hayden unit? Thanks RichL

The Hayden unit will keep the chain tension looser than the factory one. The factory one has a tendency to make the chain as tight as a banjo string which isn't good for the left side crank or transmission bearing.

Yes, I have heard that from more than one person, but mine(2011Triglide) did just the opposite. It would not tighten the chain and I started hearing a chain slap on cold starts. The noise would quiet down some as every thing warmed, but you could still here it a little. Installed the Hayden unit and problem solved.

The problem is that the stock one is not made to back off. It tightens, and that's it. If it tightens a bit too much, there is no mechanism for it to back itself off.

and dont forget also that that when the engine area is cool and hot it expands and contracts. which in turn tightens and loosens the primary chain, between that and your clutch this is why it clunks ,clicks and have a hard time putting into neutral.

just remember to use blue threadlocker on the bolts. i like to safety-wire bolts if possible.
