A friend of mine in Asheville, NC witnessed this horrible scene of a Goldwing trike going up in flames. The vehicles on either side also got burned. Allegedly, the owner turned on the ignition and the fire started:

Wow. That's just terrible. I'm guessing that's most likely not somebody here on the forum, or we'd have heard about it by now. Not that that makes it any less horrible.

That's what I was thinking too. I looked around the forum before posting just in case it was someone here.

Nah .......... Bet it was the fully illuminated and chromed static straps from the J C Whitney m/c catalog. They drew so much amperage that the stuffed "Winky the Cat" on the luggage rack shorted out and caught fire. :gah::gah::gah:

Holy smokes, wonder if they turned it off when the fire started...

When I check google for similar pictures I get a lot of this stuff. :xzqxz:

That ain't right. :D

Glad it caught fire right away and not after he, and maybe a PASSENGER!, were on it and had started moving! That could have been ugly.

No one was physically injured that I'm aware of. I imagine the owner's soul was in agony though. I know mine would be.

Need to add an "I don't like this post" button ..

That has to suck to see your pride and joy burn up. Just looking at this turned my stomach and it's not even my trike.

Ahhhhh!! I shouldn't have looked!! The wife and I head out on the 16th July for three weeks!! I'll likely think about that every time I start my Wing. Man, That would really suck!!.....Ken

I'm sure it was a fluke, but it does make you stop and think. 'Course, we'll never know what actually caused it. (unless it really was the trailer hitch :AGGHH:.
