I recently purchased a pair of flags w/mounts for my Goldwing Trike. I really suffered with trying to find one that appeared to be a good mount system. I bought two of them (one for each side of the trunk rack) and tried all day Saturday to get them installed. NO SUCH LUCK!! Mounts were advertised to be for 1/2" bar yet the hole in the mount was closer to 3/4". I could not make it work. Oh they'd clamp on but as soon as you took off for a ride they were laying flat on their backs. I was, to say the least, frustrated.

So I did what I always do when I need to clear my head, went out to the woodshop. Started cleaning up the shop a little and found some leftover Padauck (wood) and started thinking. First attempt is not as good as it can be but it proves that it will work as designed. This is what I ended up with ...

A quick install in the rack and voila!

Wife and I took a little ride for a couples of hours (with time out for Ice Cream) and the flags did just fine. No sign of any problems. The next set of wood mounts I make will look a lot nicer (I hope) but for now ...
... I'm happy. Comments welcome.

Good job and a great idea. ThumbUp We have the flat stamped rack, and I can see this working with flat slots instead of your work around for the round stock rack. Now that you have posted such a good way of solving that problem, you can probably consider the idea in the public domain.;)

GREAT Job.....ThumbUp...another alternative is visit a Bicycle Shop....They sell aluminum cup spacers to help fit various mis-matched handlebar, seat post combinations. I've used these over the years to shim various Motorcycle Projects.....ThumbUp
