Harley oil drain plug !

Hey ! I've got tired of spend my Hard earned $$ on the stealership for an oild change on my 14. So here I go again and changing all my own oils.

I get to the deal and get my oil and 1 O ring for the drain plug. $1;95 for 1 O ring:xzqxz:. So after i did my oil change I took a ride and hit the ACE hardware store.

For $. 79 I bought the same O ring same thickness & size so I bought a couple of them for a later date. That's all I have to share today. Later.....................

I bought the same 0 ring at Kamloops Harley for $1.29 and that's Canadian money which is 30 per cent higher than American

Dollar to doughnuts, that the stealer does not change the O ring, unless it splits at removal.
Havent changed mine yet, its due at next change just because--it's due:blush:

They buy them by the hundreds @ .10 each:gah:
My bud has a auto repair shop , my winter hang out, some autos use cartridge type oil filters, they all come with new O rings. When I clean up, I find many new ones still in the box in the garbage. Those guys wouldn't last long if it was my biz. :nonono:

I quit working on my own bike years ago so last bike was a 1700 bullett proof Roadstar. Hell of a ride and if it weren't for the last back surgery I'd still be on it. But I had a new rear tire put on and was riding funeral escort for a first responder when the town of West exploaded, in the rain, with highway patrol escort doing 70 MPH and wife on the back. When I got home and was cleaning it up for the next day escort I noticed the shop forgot to tighten a minor nut, like the rear axel nut! In the house I go and ordered a air powered lift and called a concrete guy to come pour me a slab for it. Sold the lift when I had to go to three and now I'am shoping for a trike lift. When you ordering your lift? It all starts with changing your own oil, you have been forewarned.:laugh:

That could of been nasty. Doing maintenance takes one to the next level and at least you know if it has been checked or not. Jim
