Hard starting Trike with 2005 Screamin Eagle engine

Hi all. Long time no speak.

Gotta problem. My scoot is hard starting. It will crank about one turn, stop, about one second later it will start cranking, then fire. The previous owner said that was not unusual. Harley dealer said all is OK. (Where have we heard that before?)

Thought it was the battery, so I put a new one in. Guess what? Same problem. New battery rated 400CCA. More than enough amps at 60F in this neck of the woods.

Any ideas of comments will be appreciated... other than sell the beast.

You might check your ACR (automatic compression release), that is if you have them in your bike.

What about the compensator? If it's worn it might cause the starting issue. Does it pop at all starting or shutting down?

I have a 2004

My 103" CVO engine is hit or miss for hard starting. It acts like a compression thing....I don't think these things have any automatic release. I'm so used to it now it is not an issue.
