Backfire & White Smoke When Starting?

This has only happen once, yesterday after a fairly long ride. Started the bike after a short break and it backfired and white smoke appeared to come out of the exhaust on the right side. I hit the starter again and it fired up OK. Has never happened before. What could cause this and should I be concerned?

2013 Tri-Glide:

When a little hot after ridin, make sure that the fuel pump yellow lite goes out before tryin to start and never turn the throttle before it starts.

When I shut down, I always use the run switch on the handle bar then I turn the key switch off. If I forget then it acts up on restart.

I think it just had a hiccup and you will be OK.

Later, eighty80.

I'd try the suggestions eighty80 has first, the dealer didn't do you any favor installing a canned map with all those changes. How many miles do you have on your Trike now?

I agree 100% that the canned map the dealer downloaded is not the way to go. I could not find anyone in the Houston area to do a dyno on a trike and I don't have the expertise to tune the bike myself. I have approximately 2600 miles on the bike. The stage one was done at 1500 miles.

You might get lucky and it had just been a fluke. I had a bike that came with the Stage 1 and dealer download to go with it. I had that bike backfire once when starting it in the garage, it didn't do it after that one time.
