New member here from the Coachella Valley, CA area (Palm Springs area). My wife and I have been riding for years - currently own a 2-wheel 2012 HD Ultra Limited. We both retired at Christmas and over the holidays we've had a lot of conversations about extending our riding long into our retirement (we also have a toy hauler 5th wheel so the bike gets to go on trips). All of that has led to a serious discussion about moving to 3-wheels.

Visited the local HD shop and looked at the Tri Glide. Then realized that I am currently driving most of a trike already - and maybe I should look at a conversion instead.

Found this group and have already learned a great deal. Looking forward to getting a lot more information and help as we consider options.

welcome aboard. lots of info on here about the initial stuff you need to think about. Read on. Ask questions if you don't find your answer.

Welcome Bill and greetings from the correct (right) coast, on Long Island.
You won't regret going to 3. Most people wish they did it sooner.

My wife did the same thing and decided on a conversion. We haven't looked back.

Welcome from NorCal

I'm retired, wife still on the job - we each have HD trikes + our OLD '88 FLHS Harley 2-wheeler. We love
them all but the 'ole 2-wheeler sits more/more.
Really enjoy our l o n g trips on the trikes - I make my
annual to down to Yuma every April.
MY opinion DO IT, you'l enjoy the ride!!!!!!!

The choice list is long, lots to think about as you reach your decision. You have your 2012 Ultra, probably have it all set up the way you want it, and there are some fine conversions out there, maybe Road Smith and Hannigan at the top of the list. If you go the conversion route, the plan should be seek out the best you can find to do the conversion. A bad build will haunt you. On the other hand, a Harley factory build will probably cost you less in the long run. Far as I know, the Harley factory build does not offer a reverse, that would be an add on feature at some expense, but you have an Ultra, the reverse would be a wash as an additional expense I suspect. You'll get more responses from experienced trikers, so stay tuned.

Welcome to Trike Talk form SE Missouri. I don't think you will be sorry to trike. 99.9% of the people I know who went to a trike love the and will never go back to two wheels. Enjoy the hunt for the trike, see if you can test ride some of the trikes and get the one that is most comfrontable to you. Ride safe and have fun.
