Picked up our new helmets with the genuine Honda intercom system yesterday. At first we couldn't figure out how to get them to work, but Hubby fooled around with the controls and viola! However, the mikes are always on. We can't figure out what settings we need to "key" the mikes to talk to each other. The owner's manual was no help, so I turn to my all knowing triker buddies! Thanks!

You said the mikes are always on so maybe you do not need a push to talk switch.

There is a button on the dash that says intercom. Just guessing that activates the mikes. Your head sets do have the mikes on them right?

Just talked to a friend that uses his intercom. He said the mikes are always hot so just turn on the intercom switch on the dash and talk.

There is a button on the Audio control panel labeled I-com. Push on it until you see the headset icon w/ I-com beside it on the screen. Your I-com is now on and the mics are live!
The Honda I-com system has live Mic's all the time. It is not voice activated(VOX). What looks like a normal on/off knob on the audio control panel controls the volume for both rider and passenger(no separate volume control)
by pushing on that knob until you see I-com volume on the display.
Also, if playing any of the other audio components while the I-com is on you can push that same button until you see I-com mute displayed you can control the threshold level at which your voices will mute the other audio component.
Before you ask, your passenger's Mic will pick up a lot of wind noise so, here's what I got that helped: J&M Part Number: J&M-HACCGL18 (AA-218156) - Direct Line Parts
You also might hear a buzz in the headsets w/I-com on. There are a number of things that can cause that and it may take some experiment w/various rf filters, ground loop isolators, etc. to help that.
Also, for separate volume control for the passenger, I got one of these: Products
