Anybody have any opinions (now that's a dump ?) about really good helmet speakers - I'm currently looking at the Tork XPro and the IASUS XSound 3 HD - what say ye audio junkies?

I have J & M on my old and new helmets. No problems, installed myself! The old set is 15 anyway!

We have Air Rider on Gloria's Arai Classic/c and I have J&M Elite 787 series in a KBC Tourcom. The Air Riders are pretty good, a bit light in the low end. The J&M's are more balanced overall, though the Air riders are a bit clearer for intercom and the J&M set are clearer for music. We got new Bluetooth headsets so both pair of intercom and helmet will soon be for sale. I heard a pair of Edsets and they had a good sound. They seem to be made for use with foam earplugs and the volume turned up accordingly.
Now that Gloria picked up her own ride, a 2007 VW based Roadsmith Roadhawk, as mentioned above we got a set of bluetooth wireless headsets, Sena 20S. They sound very good, even on the Bonneville with no windshield. You do pay for the sound and all the many other features, though.
All that said, with the small size of helmet speakers, and the noise from the road, other vehicles and the trike itself you'll never get near to audiophile sound. To come close to that quality, in-ear headphones, AKA canal phones, are the way to go. These are basically earplugs with speakers built in, so a lot if not most of the road noise is blocked out. Some states limit or don't allow them as they can block out most or all outside noise. They can be had for about $10 at your local Wallyworld type store to hundreds of dollars for the top shelf models, and some can be custom fitted to your ears.
