Gl1800 Rear Shock

I have 2002 Gl1800 with 05 Lehman Monarch II kit, Rear shock really drops when 2up even in 20s on shock adjuster. Anyone ever put on the aftermarket stiffer progressive spring with a trike kit on? Im guessing this makes much more labor intensive to get to shock,vs getting to it on a 2 wheel wing. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I recently had my "97 GL1500 triked with a Roadsmith. Started out at 20 psi on shocks but my wife said it rocked back and forth too much on twisties. I experimented and now have settled on 45 psi. Handles great with or without a passenger. My original manual called for 50 psi with a passenger but I had to lower it so that I could safely get 2 feet on the ground with 2 wheels. Try increasing the pressure 5 psi at a time and see what works best.

Your lehman has 2 shocks on it.The Honda which is hydraulicly adjustable from the side panel and the Lehman shock which has to be manually adjusted from underneath the trike. When you purchased the trike you shouldve been given a spanner wrench for adjusting this shock. Some installers set this shock on the lowest setting believing it gives a softer ride ,but then the shock really has no spring to work with. Typically a good starting point to set this shock is in the middle setting for a good ride. I would try adjusting the shock at first if it doesnt help there is an alternative spring thats heavier that Lehman has for their shock.

Lehman also offers a heavy duty auxiliary shock to replace the standard auxiliary shock. It has a heavier spring and will lift the trike 1-2 inches. Some dealers installed a heavy progressive spring to counteract spring fatigue of the stock Honda shock. The Heavy Duty Progressive became standard in 2006 with the Lehman Monarch II. Since yours may have been constructed prior to that it may just have the standard Honda spring. Contact a Lehman dealer for info.

Had the Honda rear shock serviced, got rid of the OEM spring, installed the heavier aftermarket progressive spring, Wow what a difference! Riding on ZERO at this point. Handling in everyway for the better!
