Can anyone help me with performance issues on 93 GL1500 Trike. I am looking for ways to boost the performance. It's just gutless compared to my Valkyrie

Heck, I still feel more acceleration & better cornering ability are in my Valkyrie trike, compared to my 1800. That little MT SA kit just hauls. But the GW-1800 is a Cadillac to ride. Just different beasts.

About the only easy change you can make would be the trigger wheel, increase to 4* or 6*... but good wheels are getting hard to find.

I am a newbie, I learned today a failing alternator affects the performance bad, So you might check your voltage. I have a 89 Model and shes a go getter with plenty of amps running through her but I am not trying to race it neither but I am interested to hear what others say here though

The Valkyrie has six carbs instead of two and different cams. It's going to be hard to get the 1500 to that level without spending a great deal of money.

That said, I had a 1500 bike for 10 years and the word "gutless" never entered my mind.

If I had known the difference, I would have never bought the Goldwing trike. I would have triked my Valk. And yes there is a substantial difference. I guess I'm just stuck now and will at least try a 4 degree trigger wheel for starters.

Thanks

I have a couple of new 4 degree trigger wheels on the shelf. I will need to see what $$ I have in them. Probably $30.00 plus shipping.

Gutless 1500's aren't. They have plenty of horsepower and torque for their intended use. They are designed for relatively sedate touring duty. Compared to a Valk, built as a power cruiser, GL1500's lacking, but compare acceleration, handling and top speed of a Valk to a, say, CBR1100XX of the same year and the Valkyrie is a sleeping dog. Apples to apples, etc...

Thanks for the info, I ordered a trigger wheel and will install it. I do now realize the difference in the Valk and the Goldwing.
The Goldwing is smooth and I'm learning to get used to it. This also is the first Motortrike I have had. I am just working all the bugs out of it for mine and my wife's comfort. I also need to find some place that sells brake pads for the Motortrike. It has two pads on each side of each caliper. I am the State Coordinator for a motorcycle rights organization in Texas called ABATE. TEXASABATE.com. So we do a lot of riding. I appreciate everyone's input and help on recommendations for the Gl1500.

The best performance advise I know of is to make sure that carb is in good condition, you have no vacuum leaks, all the little solenoids and such that are needed are working correctly. My had issues in all of these areas when I got it and is a beast compared to what is was when I got it.I doubt it would even think of staying with a Valk but as i've said before it's much harder for me to keep the wing at 55 than my nomad.
