GL1500 clutch chatter

Try a different engine oil. I had a bad shudder riding 2 up, on any incline, starting from a stop. Still will do it if I don't give it some throttle, but is light years better since dumping the Honda brand oil that I put in it. I use plain old Delo 400 LE. I know there are tons of opinions here, but I find dino oil to be best. !999 GL1500SE with a motortrike kit, 38,000 miles. jimsjinx

Jim, that is what I was trying to tell him too.. For some reason he has 2 post here on the same thing. all he had to do was bump the other one if he did not get the answers>>>??????

I think U have the right Idea on this...

Yep, these clutches are pretty tough. Hard to imagine a failed clutch pac on a wing, unless someone's been dumping the clutch to drag race! Oh well. jimsjinx

You have a hydraulic clutch, don't you? Before you do anything else, check the fluid level in your reservoir.

Does that oil have friction reducing moly's in it? Don't know about the GW's but you can't run it in a VTX without it screws up your clutch. Chumbly-

no friction reducing moly's in it all new clutch fluid no air in lines it only does it at take off not all the time thanks for all the reply s willing to try anything

I'm with JimsJinx on the DELO400.
If you can't get it, use Mobil-1 in a 15w40 weight instead.
Both work almost identically through the 3000 mile use cycle. The Delo is just a lot less expensive.
I know guys near the border who run across to load up on several gallons at a time at Wally World and then horde it at home. At less than $10 US / gallon it's hard to beat. And so are the SuperTech filters you can get while there as well.

I had chatter and clutch hopping when the bike was hot when I used Rotella-T 5w-40. That was just one of many things that got me off of Shell onto the DELO.

thanks rudy and jim found a place that will order it for me will be trying delo next oil change hopefully before the snow flies will let you all know how i make out

Sprayman Is this Just a noise or can you feel something along with it.
May wont to check drive shaft for touching something at take off the rear end pivot up ward on take off.
also recheck all fastners.
Do you have draglinks with hiem joints for stabelizers at rear ,some have reported similar noise and found the threads pulling out of them. good luck and hope it is something very simple.
