Gear oil question

I have a champion independent kit on a vtx1300. I can't find any information on the gear oil type and level in the diff. I checked their website and there is no support type information. I like the kit but the support is poor. I sent them an email but haven't heard anything.

anyone have any idea on this?

your rear end is either a Nissan or Suzuki car rear end. Any 90 weight gear oil will do fine.
Yes, you are correct, Champion customer service sucks.

MY BAD reread your post. Last night I didn't see the word Independent. Disregard my post 'cause I know nothing about ID suspentions. Champion customer service still sucks

Try calling them. I did get someone once that was very understanding but didn't get his name.

Thanks I did several searches and never came across this. It is not consistent with what I read just after installing the kit. It was a depth measurement. This may be for the solid axle kit. My fill hole is on the top. This guide says to not fill over the fill hole that sounds like a standard diff with the hole in the side. Can't very well fill over the fill hole if it is on the top.

and can you mix gl5 and gl6 gear oil.

Rear end lubrication.
Your differential comes filled with 1 quart of SAE 85W140 API GL-6 gear oil. You should not have
to top-off the differential unless you experience axle seal or pinion seal leaks. Check the oil level
every 10,000 miles, or sooner if you experience leaks, and refill as necessary. Do not fill higher than
the fill-hole. Change the differential oil every 30,000 – 35,000 miles.
