Gear Issues with an '09 GW Trike w/ CSC

Travelling to an event today and the Wing suddenly wouldn't shift. Was at a stop light and although it would 'click' into gear... it acted like it was in neutral when applying the gas... and you could hear a slight 'whirling' .... like nothing was making contact in the rear. No prior indications..... Trike Conversion is a CSC....6600 miles.

Doesn't sound like fun and sorry to hear about this........it could be a number of things from insufficient fluid levels to clutch related problems.

You might check the primary/gearbox fluid level first.......

Clutch might be out of adjustment and not releasing....possible clutch pressure plate problems.......shifter linkage might be loose or damaged......more of a stretch might be bearing issues, drive shaft or rear differential issues.......

I wish you luck. I've seen pictures of those poor things in lots and lots of pieces when the transmission goes south and they have to pull the engine and split the cases.

Is there a grinding noise coming from the right rear just forward of the right rear wheel?

If so it's the drive shaft.

Not there with You....but, sounds more like something in the rear driveline components.....

Pull the r/h side cover and inspect the driveline/u-joint and make sure everything is still alltogether.

Check to make sure that you don't have half-shaft bolts loose/missing - there are 6 at each end of each half-shaft....

I have read there are some issues with drive shaft rounding on some CSC, I cannot confirm there is an issue with them but, its under warranty, call CSC and keep us informed! Sorry to hear of the problem
