Gear Indicator

The gear indicator on my 2014 seems sluggish (for lack of a better description). Sometimes it shows which gear I'm in, sometimes it seems like it has to "think about it" for a while. Frankly, I don't really use it but rather, use the tach & engine sound, but I'd think it should be more precise than it appears to be. Is that a common occurrence? I've had my Tri now for 3 months. Just curious. Thanks.

Something I didn't realize on my 2016 and subsequent 2017 TGU is that when the clutch is depressed, the number indicator disappears on the screen. You may be experiencing this phenomena?

When I read the OP's post, this is exactly what I was thinking, as that happens with my 2015 TG. May not be the answer to his problem, but...

Gear indicator is a number thrown out by the ECM based on trike speed vs. engine RPM. You may have a small bit of clutch slippage, keeping the ECM confused until the clutch is fully engaged. One sign would be if the gear ind. came on sooner with an easy shift opposed to a hard one. If it's been a spell since the last clutch adjustment I would start there.

DISCLAIMER: I'm just a dumb old fart, so I could be completely off base...

Thank you all. Further inspection while operating reveals exactly what was said. The gear # disappears whenever the clutch lever is pulled in. Gear # reappears as soon as the lever is released. Something else learned.

Same on my 15 TG. Sometimes the gear showing isn't correct it does do to the right gear indicator after a short few seconds.

My Victory will do the same , As long as the cluch is depress the gear indicator will turn off....My 11 Tri-Glide will do the same in 6th...
