Is anyone having trouble filling the gas tank on 2015 Tri-Glide. I fill into the neck and then have to wait for it to go down so I can put more gas in it. If I shake the bike it will go down faster.

Same problem(?) here..I have a 2015 Tri-Glide and I usually put my leg against the rear floor board and move the trike a little....On a related note...Why hasn't HD redesigned that part so the cover opens towards the front? It seems like it would make getting gas easier?? I'm always sorta fighting the cover while filling up....My 93 FLHS is the same as the Tri................Dave

Got worse in 2008 when they added the 6 gallon tank. It's a chore to fill up any FLH now.

I fill it to the top... Wait to light my Cigar,

By then it will settle down a little then i can top it off...

Filling a gas tank on a Bike/Trike is always an adventure....

I just fill it to the "fingers" each time. I figure what little extra I can get in isn't worth the time spent. That way I am also getting pretty close to the same amount so I can check my mileage. Of course, I go by the average of all the tanks for my overall mileage figures.

I agree, it's a bit of a chore to just fill up compared to other bikes I've had. Shake, shake, shake, to get a full tank, lol.

I fill mine very, very slow and have no problem. It's fills all the way up. Thinking that filling too fast forms an air lock

I do it the same way you do.

Gas tank

Thanks for the feedback talked to the Motor Company they sounded like I was the only one with this problem. Guess I have to live with it.

I've been riding Harleys since forever and have always had to bump "burp" the gas tank. If you go slow filling the tank it help but a gentile butt bump or "burp" doesn't help.

Which brings up a question. Why do you have to get your tank that full anyway. You're chancing spilling gas all over your paint, which it doesn't really hurt, but a mess to clean up. I'm sure you don't ride a full 6gals before stopping again.

Yep. just rock the bike back and forth while filling. Really easy. Most of the time I rock the bike with my hand on the bars. Dosen't take much to get the tank to burp. Gotten use to so no real biggy

The key is, on pre 2014 bikes you could rock the bike forwards and backwards to get it to burp and fill all the way up...and it only took once or twice.

On 2014-up models, they need to be rocked side to side, and need to burp 3-4 times to get a complete fill. The difference can be as much as 1/2 gallon without the burping.

9 times out of 10 the gas pumps I use do not go slow enough to get anywhere near full without rocking it side to side.

And, yeah, I regularly ride an entire 5.5-5.9 gallons before stopping to fill up. :)

At 71 my butts not quite that tough anymore. Have to stop every 150-160 miles and pound some blood back into the cheeks. Although I will admit on the way to Sturgis this year I coasted up to the pump in Ft Collins, CO and put 6.4gal in a 6 gal tank.

ya know some people might take offense to somebody making such a statement. But this new member is an OLD riding buddy that I've ridden 1,000's of miles on 2 with, who just went to a trike. Glad he found this place. Now if they start thread about being older and UGLY he'll be the first to reply. LoL !!!

Glad to see you here Frank..

I have found two ways of burping the Tank ,used to shake it with handlebars side to side now I put a foot on the driver floor board and engage front brake and bounce the front end working shocks up and down . Works for me and usually another half a gallon or more. I mostly run mine until lo range is showing. The most I have filled is 5.7 gals. Ebert

Who you calling old?

I gave up trying to get 6 gallons in the tank. I have tried everything I can find. Shake it and shake it, held 5.55 gallons. Parked down hill, parked uphill with shake and shake still 5.55 gallons.
I give up and decided it's a 5.5 gallon tank.

That is probably a good thing dirtdobber , at least you didn't run out of gas ! lol 5 gals or more I am ready for an ass break anyhow ! lol

I have the 2" DK deluxe tank lift installed. I have been able to ignore the Lo Range warning a number of times for miles. One time I actually had the bike stumble going around a turn, then I drove another 10 miles, and got it to take 5.8 gallons...
