High price of fuel..
In Scotland the price has gone over the top. Regular Unleaded is $9.50 a gallon. Super unleaded is $10.45 a gallon. Diesel is $9.90 a gallon. I guess you should not complain yet. We pump the stuff and still have to pay over the odds.
That is why you do not see many big engined cars so much over here. I will stick to my Goldwing 1800 trike and my little roadrage smart car with a 599cc engine.smart_car_photos_road_rage It pops out at an amazing 94bhp.

Have you noticed that the Poll has been viewed 78 times and only 15 have expressed their opinion. The oil companies are making record profits at the expense of the Working Man and our Governmet does nothing, just goes to show that "Money Talks and Bulls_ _ T Walks". Guys we are real close to walking here.
The governmet was formed "For the people and by the people" but now the rich rule and the poor have no say.

Oil companies are easy to blame because they are the first in line. But the facts are, the government should bear most of the blame. The mistakes were made years ago when the Green weenies stopped all new construction of refineries. Our newest refinery is 35 years old. Then they refused to open the Alaska North Slope Anwar area to drilling. Then we discovered oil off the Florida coast and they lobbyed successfully to stop drilling there. That area is now being drilled by the Chinese for Cuba. During all this time we have a much greater need for oil than we ever had before. Throw in the huge demands of China and India and the laws of supply and demand go to hell ...like right now. Throw in the Democratic Congress and tighten your belt. Gas will be $5 a gal before you know it...That's not a threat...it's a promise. Think they give a damn about you and I? Think again...

Yes you are correct the government does take quite a cut. They are putting more and more traders/haulage out of work. How long can we sustain this cost AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhh.

Yes you can visit to ride anytime you wish. We have the facilities here for you to stay for awhile and some great riding the year around. But right now you will have to schedule a bit later as I have friends from Dublin,Ireland that are doing just that. This is their second visit here and they sure are a good bunch of people to have as friends. At some time i hope to be able to go to Ireland to see that country on a bike.
We will see $4.00 a gal in Wisconsin by the end of May. Memorial Day weekend is coming and that will put it over the mark. We're at $3.79 right now!

I did not check any block because "none of the above is not an option and the government is not totally to blame. Our elected employees have certainly caved in to those who hate big business and do not understand simple economics so among the options listed in the 'poll' government is the closest to accurate. In addition, we are not taking full advantage of the benefits of clean, safe nuclear power. We get about 20% of our electric power from nuclear generation whereas most developed nations get 40% or more from this source.
The U S is becoming more dependent on foreign crude as world-wide demand is growing. A barrel of crude on the spot market costs a company in Japan, for example, the same as it does to a company in this country.
Getting back to the basic question about blame, a couple of the candidates for the Presidential nomination are among the leaders in the demagoguery of the oil industry. They would restrict the $s a company (shareholders) could earn even though their rate of profit is about the same as it was 5 or more years ago. This would hurt virtually all of us, in my opinion as nearly 50% of us own shares in oil companies and most of us have a vested interest of some type in the success of U S based businesses.
This is my opinion...
The integrated oil companies domiciled in the U S are making approximately the same rate of net profit they were making, on average 5 and 10 years ago; ...somewhere in the range of 8.5 to 10%. While this is a healthy rate of return, it is by no means the most profitable industry. Nearly 50% of U S adults own shares in the oil business directly or through pension funds, IRAs, etc., etc. It is one of the most widely held industries in the country.
...and in case you are wondering, I do not work for an oil company.
JMO but if the Goverment would we used OUR oil here insted of sending it to Asia we may be alot better off,Let them pay the Saudies.And when all the inviro nuts that there part of the problem insted of a cure we may be able to get this country back to normal. Again JMO

We do, or did, export a small amount of Alaskan crude to Japan, but it is an infintesimal amount indeed which would make little if any difference if it were stopped altogether. I believe is sold at the spot price, as well.

When will the price increases stop? Probably never. Conservation, development of alternatives and exploitation and production of available fossil resources will however, come.
In the U S, we have considerable quantities of untapped fossil feed stocks and the ability to do what you in the UK, Europe, and other developed nations have done to exploit the potential of nuclear power generation. Perhaps now we will begin to move forward.
