My Electra Glide got about 20,000 miles from a front tire, but the front tire on the TG is ready to be replaced at 10,000. Is there a reason I couldn't run a radial tire as they're sposed to get better milage?

Yes the radial tire will make the front bounce,,,, you should find a rear tire to put on the front of the trike.. Not a trike car tire a motorcycle rear tire Bias Ply. .

On a trike, the only part of the tire that is used is the very center of the tire.
The rest of the tread will never touch. Try looking for a rear bias ply tire the same size as the front tire on the Triglide. Best bet would be a tire with no center groove since that would wear first.

When you put the rear tire on mount it in reverse rotation to keep the plies pulled right. You get a lot more rubber on the rear tire.

I just put an ME880 rear tire on the front. Fits with no problem. Bike tracks like it's on rails. Looks a little beefy on the front, but so does the rest of the trike. Mounted it in the normal rotation direction. I don't ride much in the rain.

I did look around at retro tires for classic cars, something with a more square profile. There are a lot of choices, just not sure I want to be the test pig.

Explain your answer as to how the radial tire will cause the front to bounce??

I have been running a Dunlop MU85 rear mounted in reverse rotation for the last 15k miles. The tire wear is so far has been great. I think this tire will last at least 25k miles before needing replacement. Tread depth was 11/32 for the rear Dunlop I installed on the front

Im considering mounting a Austone 175R16 "radial " Taxi tire for my next front tire. They have gotten good reviews by those who have mounted them on the rear of 2 wheel M/C. I need to get some info on the width of the tire after its mounted on a 3.5 inch wheel and inflated to see if it will fit under the front fender.

Glad I saw this thread. I just bought H-D Anarchy wheels - which are bigger. I told the tech to put the front tire on backwards - then lightening struck me. I forgot that you put a "rear" tire backwards on the front. Now I got to call the dealer and tell them not to reverse the tire - I hope they haven't done it yet. Sometime I'm soooo stupid. :AGGHH:

Just had lightening hit me again. can the front wheel be put on in either rotation??? If so then all they they have to do is put the wheel with the tire on in the correct direction.

Front tire should only go in the direction is meant to turn. The rear tire can be mounted in reverse on the front due the forces it sees and the way the rubber layers are layed and bonded to the rear tire carcass

I have been told by Misty Mountain Trikes and a number of Internet sites and my Honda dealer that the Michelin Pilot Rear tire put on the front trike wheel in oposite rotation from what the tire has indicated and you should get between 15,000/18,000 miles.
I have my new tire to be mounted when the other tire wears down.
We'll see after I run out that new tire as to mileage increase.

I got 22k on my front tire before replacing and I probably had around 3k left before getting to the wear bars. I keep the air pressure at 36. Makes me wonder why you only are getting 10k on yours.

That's why I called the dealer back and told them to mount it the right way.

my 2010 tri-glide has 29,500 miles on the front original tire its just under 2/32" tire wear and should be replaced by 1/32" , i'm just now in the process of buying a new tire and replacing it , and by back tires are hardly worn , don't understand why yours wore out so quick

Strange, I'm around 11,300 on my original front tire. When I picked up my bike Wednesday was told I was down to 3/32nd's wear and would need a new tire soon. Don't understand why I'm not getting better mileage from it. Any other recommendations on replacement tires for the front?? Thank you!

kept my front tire inflated at 36 at all times and I just replaced the , had 2/32 lift ,I could have went longer , but going on trip, on ultra 2 wheeler I used to have I got 20,000 mi , using the Dunlop 402 ,just like what came on the bike, I think I would keep an eye on the tire pressure real close, good luck gets expensive to have to buy tires that premature
