Another forum post of rubbing front plug wire on the fuel tank. Some said it was 25% worn though some said it was just a slight mark. Seams there is a clip attached to the tank some said wire was not attached to the clip some said the clip was not there. Of course everyone reported theirs was rubbing.

I checked mine with 5600 miles, there is a very slight rub mark on the wire. Installed section of rubber hose on that section should solve the problem.

Just thought you might want to check your plug wire. Long term it could be a problem but looks to be an easy fix and not an issue short term.

Let's see - spark plug wire wearing thru against gas tank. Seems like a problem that would be fun to wait to see how long it takes to fail (and arcs spark over to the tank). I'll report that finding immediately when it happens to me (or maybe I won't).

Thanks for the early warning, this notice may have saved not only trouble, but our behinds as well! :kpzxvq:

I know this thread is about a year old, but I ran across it during a search. I have a 14 with about 8k miles on it so I checked my wire. WOW, I am glad I lucked up on this thread, my front wire was worn a good third of the way through. The rear wire had a slight rub about two and a half inches up. So this bump is for you...:D

I would see if you can get the dealer to warranty it, they shouldn't be worn. My dad has almost 50,000 miles on his wires and they still look like the day I put them on.
