Front Fender Flap

Does anybody know of a front fender flap? Seems to me like a flap on the front fender would maybe keep some of the rocks from hitting the rear fender.
Anybody have any ideas?

I bought one from this person, HARLEY MUD FLAPS you can see it in this picture.

I see Capitan Itch also sells them Mud Flaps, his leather goods are top notch. I have several regular belts and gun belts from him, he's the only place I buy my belts.

I was looking for a way to stop mud from covering/blocking the oil cooler [11 T/G]
I ride a lot on a dirt/mud road, And the cooler gets covered something awful from the front tire . I think those flaps just might work. ThumbUp

Here is mine, Capt'n Itch made it for me from a pattern I sent them. It does stop the mud on the oil cooler, but I doubt it does much for rocks on the rear fenders, however at 10K my rear fenders are not chipped so who knows may be it does help.

I know the feeling, this is my cooler from a little detour while I was in SD before I had a mud flap. My dad and I both immediately bought mud flaps and installed them once we got home.

Sportsters aren't immune. A week ago, I bought / installed a front fender extension for $40 + shipping on eBay (Fenda Extenda, Extender Fenders, Motorcycle Fender Extenders by Pyramid. It's a little pricey for a piece of plastic and two pieces of double-sided tape, but I hope to cut down on stones, tar, mud, and stains on my front cylinder and fins. It extends 6 inches down from the bottom of the fender.

The first photo is my current front fender on my Sportster XL / Lehman Raider. The second and third pics are of a similar front fender on my FXST Softail with the new extension installed.

Yep, that's what mine mine looks after a ride in the mud.
As a side note, looks like your guardian bell is starting to rub though the oil line.

It was, I relocated it to my new GL1800:D. The person who owns the trike now needs to find their own.

Hey Mike & Mike.....which one did you put on the TG...went to couple web sites mention above...thought most looked kind of funky....fringe/studs/bling/emblems/etc. and way overpriced!

I put the one on from the site that M3 mentioned.

Harley FL front Fender Skirt
I am really happy with it. A little pricey but a very nice product.

Hi Barbara,
Ya need to look at one on the bike. It has a completely different look. Be sure to get one that has enough length to be effective to block things from the cooler while moving in the wind. Some of the sellers will custom make one of your design also. So communicate with them & make your own changes.
If ya just want cheap there are some on EBay for about $12...........

I thought my timberwolfs flaps were reasonable priced due to the quality of the leather and craftmanship. You can call him and he will make what you want without all the fringes etc,,

Well, will have to take a look....$12? I like that

Hmmm, didn't know you put on on Trent....will have to take a look-see...are you doing Cabin Fever Ride Saturday?

Dunno...I got asked to ride sweep last Sat, as you know,,and that was not fun...being at the tail end of 150 bikes gets you to the destination 30 minutes later than the lead pack...dont wanna do that again...will let you know though, or see you there...I ordered a simple rubber flap from someone here on Trike Talk,,,cant remember who...it was $25.00.. he shipped it to me and when it got here, I mailed him a check with that amount plus shipping. Then I went to the dealer and picked up a chrome {of course!} fender thingy...screwed it onto that, then screwed on the fender thingy. very easy..looks and works good...will try and find the receipt, unless someone else on here knows who I am talking about.

I think his screen name on this site is helipilot or something like that, but someone else may know for sure.

I just put on a Drag Specialties DS-393702 (Rubber) front mud flap. (Almost $12 with tax - HD Dealer ordered it for me).

I removed the aluminum fender skirt, marked it, drilled 3 each 3/16" holes and installed the flap using 10-32 nylocks in place of the nuts that came with it (making sure to not loose it). I think it looks great and has some flexibility to it just in case. My chrome pump cover was taking a beating. This should keep things much cleaner.

I just made one out of heavy black foam rubber (I think it was some sort of mouse pad, but stiff), cut it to a curved shape, took the wheel off, cleaned everything real well, and attached it with stick-on Velcro. Been on there several thousand miles and still holding strong. (yes, I'm cheap)

I made a flap from a piece of scrap rubber I scrounged at work. I live 1/4 mile off the pavement, wanted to keep dirt/rocks/mud from hitting the oil cooler.
I started with it big, then trimmed it until it looked OK, maybe 2" or so off the ground. Drilled 3 little holes in the lower fender trim, used some stainless screws, easy and cheap and doesn't look that bad...

I made one up that has been pretty effective in keeping crap out of the oil cooler. You can see it here... http://www.triketalk.com/forum/threads/19074-What-did-you-do-to-Your-Tri-Glide-Today/page12
Post # 138... I used stainless hardware and an automotive mud flap from a local store that I cut to fit. Going to make a new one as I'm not pleased with the shape of this one... Also used larger matching ones for the rear fenders that you can see in my post...
Hope this gives you some ideas...ThumbUp
