FreeWheeler Heated Backrest - a thought.....

Guys,

I think a good option for HD and other seat makers to explore is offering heated back-rest option (Rider and Passenger).

I have a newer car with heated seats and they apply heat right into my lower back and I am truly appreciative for it as I get older. I think having that on my Freewheeler would be awesome, and an option worth considering when I buy.....

So, am I alone on this, or would anyone else see this as a point of consideration and something we would like to see in the proposed new seating for the Freewheeler?

Me too....

But, I have to confess that applying heat to my lower back in the morning, any morning, sort of helps me move a bit betting. And, I think it just may help me stay in the saddle longer..... As I have gotten older, the problem is I get stiff - I think the heated rider back rest can help me out - I know having heat there in the car seat does......

Anyway, maybe a seat maker will come to the rescue and start offering one....

Hear is an update:

I have been reaching out to various vendors and custom seat makers on this and I have got some news and need to ask for some help.

It appears that Symtec (Heat Demons) is willing to offer a insert heating element for heating the rider rest. But, what I (we) need to give them is the probable size for such an insert.

So, anyone out there with a Harley rider rest what to offer me up a possible size for this insert? 6" x 6"? 4" by 8"? etc, etc.....

have you ever looked at how your backrest is made?

Likely it can be loosened up by pulling a few staples and an inexpensive 12 volt pad can be slipped under the cover? and the wires ran under the saddle down the same mounts as the back rest?

Wire it hot with an off switch and see if it's it the answer you seek?
Just take a look at how many amps it draws while working as that may be a consideration?

It was very easy to loosen the cover and put more stuffing in my back rest when I wanted some.

I see the real question has sort of got lost here...so I will try again....

What would be a good size for the heating pad or element to be?

I was thinking a 6 inch by 6 inch pad would work; but, then I thought a 8 by 4 would be better? I can just say what I want to Symtec, but I thought getting other to voice their thoughts would be best, since it may end up a marketed product. - maybe that was wrong.to ask????......
