I have decided to get a Go Pro Camera and I ordered a Hero 3 on sale for $199. I really wanted to limit how much I spend but I didn't want the entry level one. I think this one will do what I would like.

I bought a headstrap for it. IL doesn't have a helmet law and yes I don't wear one although I do have one. For now I thought the headstrap would work for me. I want to use it to ride through the state park mini tail of the dragon (I know you're laughing but I love those twisties and hills through there) I won't be wearing the camera all the time but I wasn't sure what other mount to get. I do have a spot on the center of my handlebars that is vacant (I have bluetooth speakers mounted to each side.

So my question is, if I do a mount in the center will it still film pretty good behind the windshield? Of course I'll keep the bugs off the windshield as much as possible.

What kind of mount do you have that's secure and easy to put on? My left wrist is weak so it has to be easy. The dealer service dept is very costly to put things on for me. Any things you like or don't like? Tips....are welcome.

I figured this will be an easy way for me to get pictures/video while riding.

Thanks Fuzzy. I don't have a dash to mount it on, just the handlebars. I do have a gift card to BB so if I get the handlebar mount there for $19.99 it's free. Free is good. I watched videos on the headstrap and that looks good too. The mini mini dragon took me 20 minutes to ride through, it's one way twists, hills, beautiful scenery and I'd love to film it. To me it was a good challenge with the steering and controlling the speeds and turns going uphill and downhill. Experienced riders would probably just laugh.:) I'm just trying to push myself to be better and better. I'll be looking for more state parks that are similar to ride in. One day I'll do the Dragon.

Jolie, check out this site http://tailofthedragon.com/

read down the middle of the page and a section speaks of The Moonshiner 28, Devil's Triangle, Diamondback 226 and several others.

They are all in the same area as the Dragon (NC, TN). If you are going to do the Dragon you might as well do the others.

This trip is on my bucket list also. I have a classmate who lives in SC about an hour away from the Dragon. Maybe next summer a road trip in my future!!:Trike1:

More bucket list rides! :) Thank you!

I've decided not to make Thunderstruck a solo ride. I've kept the sissy bar that the dealer took off for me because I now know about the sissy bar bags. Definitely getting one for traveling. :Trike1: I'm learning!

Absolutely not going past my comfort zone or getting cocky. Riding on two lane roads with no real curves I'm good at. Even took me 3 weeks to try the interstate again but I did just fine and better than the first time (no death grip). But the state park was awesome, no one else was on the road through the park and it was one way and I really got to test my ability on curves, going uphill and down hill and not have to worry about anyone else around. One hill was steep and I had to downshift so the engine was pulling like suggested in another post awhile back. I'll definitely be going back again. And I've found some more state parks near by, well within 75 miles, that's near by right? lol

Work has been slow today and I'm lucky they let us surf, I found extra Vivitar brand batteries, cases and mounts on ebay for the Go Pro. Also read the manual on line and I think it will be an awesome camera.

I've lined out some day trips in the near future (rain every day the next week) and by then the camera will be here.

I'm still small adventuring it but new things get me happy and I'm not as scared of them. I'm still a beginner and I realize that. But next year I may pass some of you on the road on a trip or two I hope to take! Moonshine lunch run will be one of them. I hope to take a ride there in the next few weeks just to eat.

A group of us go to the dragon each year for about 4 days round trip. This year we also added some of the Devil's Triangle and even the Devil's Whip. That Whip is a real dandy! I will let you know the next time we go and maybe you can join us. Spouses and significant others are encouraged to come along so we all have fun together.
